I'm wondering how many here have been diagnosed with sleep apnea?

Posted a Poll with question for simplicity.
Thanks!

I have onset-central sleep apnea, with some obstructive. I am on an ASV PAP machine for it. The waiting and misdiagnosis, after having another surgery, while dealing with a stalker, and menopause, sent me into an emotional breakdown.

Oh, My Stars!
You have been 'handed' a TON of stress! I am SO SORRY!!! Menopause alone is an uphill battle!
I got the call this morning that I do have Sleep Apnea. I am kind of glad, knowing that being on C-PAP can help with energy, depression, and memory, and there is probably more!
I would be a wreck if I was being stalked...I hope that has resolved somewhat? I am sure the after effects would be a lot to deal with.

Good luck, and blessings sent your way!
:hug:Hugs if you accept them!

I haven't but I'm looking into it

I believe that I die in my sleep for small moments of course I always travel to strange places (another story.)

I stop breathing so many times I'm looking to see a doctor soon

though I'm nervous about staying over night so they test me

But it's better than death.

Please see a doctor! Sleep Apnea over many years can cause heart disease, and other problems!
I feel SO much better since I am using my CPAP! I have more energy, and when I wake up, I feel like I slept well. I am SO glad I found out! My depression is MUCH better, along with feeling ALIVE again!

Don't wait to get tested!

How do they diagnose this? I've been waking gasping for air for the past week or so now.

How do they diagnose this?
You'll probably need to see your GP to start with because you need to have a sleep study done. They keep a record of your breathing through the night to see if you have times where your breathing stops. Big big cause of snoring if you know whether or not you snore.

There are other causes for having respiratory issues while you're asleep, like obstructive stuff and adenoids issues.

Even if you have a good idea what it is, sleep studies are helpful because they can tell you a lot about when the issue is bad (for example, when you're on your back or side, etc) and tailor the solution accordingly. Not everyone needs a cpap to fix the issue - some people just use a type of mouthgaurd or a contoured pillow, etc. Yay sleep study:)
