Sleeplessness

I have been experiencing a great deal of sleeplessness lately. I typically ad trouble sleeping in the past, but it feels that it may be becoming a problem recently.

I work two jobs and am a full time student. People tell me all the time they don't know how I do it. I honestly don't know how either. I have to be dead tired in order to fall asleep at night. If I am not on the brink of passing out standing up, it takes me about an hour to fall asleep. I have also been waking more frequently throughout the night.

I typically watch t.v. while I fall asleep, it keeps me from thinking too much while I'm trying to fall asleep. The light also helps calm my anxiety. I have been drinking less caffeine at night to try and help me fall asleep, but this seems to have the opposite effect on me.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

I have none for you as I never sleep either....

Just wanted to say I work 2 jobs, have 2 kids, and am a full-time student as well...and I get told "how do you do it?" all of the time too. Its exhausting and you still can't sleep, but hey at least there's extra time in your day to do homework.;)

I will say that many have told me falling asleep to the TV is actually really bad, even if you feel its calming. You have to decide what is right for you, but it may be adding to your sleeplessness. That being said I fall asleep to the TV a lot as well, and it seems to be the only time I actually do.

Have you tried kicking the caffeine habit? It may be adding to your insomnia, even if you drink it only in the morning. I can't have caffeine at all.

I also fall asleep with the tv on. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it hurts. I can't sleep in a silent room.

Easier said than done! I LOVE coffee but I do try not to drink any after 3pm

I can't believe you can all sleep with the TV on. I have to have it quiet and dark. To each his own

I can't sleep at all to tell you the truth. Where I'll finally pass out is always a mystery. More times than not I sit down to watch TV and my exhaustion just finally takes over.

Sam jam- I also thought of: exercise during the day. The best period of sleep I've ever had was when I was exercising regularly. WAY hard to do when you're a full-time student with 2 jobs, which is why I don't get to it regularly right now. If you can find the time, it may be worth it.

Hmmmm I wonder why you can't sleep... Wake up drink coffee to get brain going, race off to school and learn a subject that causes you to think too much in the first place, drink more coffee to keep brain active, then go to work at not just one job, but two, plus more coffee. Then go home and do domestic crap and then sit down and chill out, before retiring to bed. Not to mention dealing with past issues and you wonder why you can't sleep?

The good news is... You won't die from lack of sleep, you might go mad, but you won't die :)

.

I can totally relate to this quote. I just cannot fall asleep at all & as Sam says it takes exhaustion to take over.

I have no sleep pattern! I dread night times. I wind myself up because everyone else is sleeping!!! Why can't I? I know that even before the day has started it's ruined.

Panic attacks, nightmares, night sweats, night terrors etc etc I need help. Even temazepam no longer works!! Fed up totally!!! Migraines are becoming a twice weekly occurence due to lack of sleep ARRRRRRGGGHHHH!!!

Any tips? :(
