How about Isobel Terry Dip IBMT (Leeds, Yorkshire, the North) who I found on Link Removed.
I'm not sure if she is what you are looking for, but the description on their website sounds OK.

I'm pleased to say that in the course of searching, I found someone I hadn't known of before near me. Thanks for setting me on the trail again!

I too have PTSD )Complex Trauma) from birth. I am lucky to have a funded psychotherapy team assigned to me where I live (Funded from the UK Military)

Hi Laurie,

Thank you for replying - it's a very bad week for me and these messages are literally warming my heart, Could you tell me a bit about the psychotherapy team and the treatment? back from me, Helen

With Pleasure, I will share via PM though as I am not permitted to post openly the technique I have been trained to use.

Hi I live between Manchester and Liverpool - in Warrington - and I need to find a Somatic Experiencing Therapist.

I already work with focusing which is all about giving things that are felt in the body attention but I need someone specialising in PTSD using SE to help me survive what is becoming a physical crisis. My current therapist is highly skilled but its as if my mind is being therapied and my body is just being ignored ....

I have spent all day searching on the Internet .... I have sent off emails but have got nowhere .... the NW seems to be a desert .... so many therapists listed 'treat' minds and forget about how the body stores trauma. Please can anyone help?? This is urgent.

Hi,

I am in a similar position.... trying to find a Somatic Experiencing Therapist in the North. I have searched and can find no one (an opportunity for someone). I did find Reflection therapies who have a Manchester Office but no one available there who deals with trauma, only in London. They did offer to have a skype consultation but I would need to go to London for sessions.

When I first started using Dr Peter Levines techniques on my own my body went off a cliff... a had huge tension in my calves, back and held my breath as in shock. I had a lot of emotions come out. I also felt terror with people. This happened at the beginning of this year and has taken a long time to subside. I saw a really nice lady therapist but it was just all talk. I also tried Paul McKenna's latest technique Havening. I saw someone for a 2 hour session without much shifting. It was like I was holding on for dear life to something inside. I couldn't let go.

I finally got some relief to this hanging on feeling from Trauma Release Exercises by David Berceli.

A couple of books that I found really helpful... The Body Keeps the Score, and an easier read... Childhood Disrupted.

I have used the Healing Codes (simple body energy technique) by Dr Alex Loyd for a number of years and have benefited a lot from them but got stuck when the trauma came up but I have heard of others with trauma who have been helped with this.

The best set of physical exercises I have come across for calming the body are here... Energy Medicine Kit by Donna Eden.

Hope there's something here that is of interest.

Jon
