As a PTSD sufferer I always try to find new and better ways to make myself feel calm and relaxed, which happens rarely, but still better than nothing.

I have tried so many things but nothing worked! Or I should probably say (didn't work as quick as I hoped), but once while having one of my strong fits I decided to do something different. To be my own therapist for the day.

I did some breathing techniques to help me concentrate, and then I sat down on the floor, not realizing I was coming up with a "new technique" if you like!! :D

So again, I sat down on the floor and did some grounding, then I have imagined myself transferring all the bad and negative energy to the floor, down trough the walls and finally to the ground. The ground would take all the bad energy and vibes, recycle it into strong trees and beautiful flowers, and then back to me, new, nice and fresh.

That is what I decided to call the "energy recycle". ;)

It might sound silly i know!!! Lol
But for some strange reason it did work for me!!! :p
 
Nabii, its nothing new, but more merely you have taken the foundation of grounding and relaxation, and done exactly what you needed to do, being adapt it to suit you, your ideals, your values, your views. Well done.

This is exactly how its done. You don't fit yourself into therapeutic models; instead you fit the therapeutic model into you.

Please don't go the route of a new technique though... that is the very issue with current mental health, being people are slightly adapting known models that work, and because they adapted it to suit them (which is correct) they think they have something new.

Take all models for PTSD and now do the same. You just proved to yourself the exact model of how to heal trauma and manage PTSD.
 
Yes well that was Definitely based on other techniques, and is not exactly new!! But realizing that I can fit and adapt techniques in a way that can best suit me is so great! And I was kind of way to excited!! Sorry!!! :D

Nabii... just keep doing what you learnt from that. You hit literally upon the exact application of technique and knowledge integration to you as an individual. That is how you heal. You should be proud... and you did do extremely well. I honestly wish more would experiment to achieve this, because it is literally the golden gem on healing and PTSD management.

Finding that right variation to make something work for you is a magical moment- thanks for sharing your delight! Using the same idea in different words, I 'pull' from the sky until it 'pushes' the negative out into the dirt. Water and washing can be helpful tools too, absorb the wonder and rinse away the yuck- it goes down the drain until it finds a place to turn into daisies.
