Starting Seroquel (quetiapine)--what Dosage Do Others Take?

I started Seroquel (Quetiapine) yesterday--hopefully to help the nightmares and flashbacks. She started me on 25mg, and it did nothing--nightmares all night, didn't sleep two hours in a row. The psychiatrist said to keep adding a 25mg pill per day until I get to a dose that helps. I just wonder what dose others are taking and how many days to expect with this process. I would also be interested in others' experiences with the drug.

I'm kind of down about starting this--I really thought I could get through this with just therapy. But after the last few weeks, the therapist says I need medication to continue. I saw a quote the other day that says how I feel, "sometimes in therapy I can't tell if it is killing me or making me stronger." That is so true for me right now.

The psychiatrist says I will take Seroquel until we get the dose right and make sure the side effects are manageable. Then she will start an antidepressant. Is this what others are doing? Does it help? I've had this PTSD so many years (decades) with no treatment, and I really have trust issues with doctors. This really scares me now.

I take 50 mg of Seroquel and it knocks me out. In fact, I have a seroquel hangover the next morning so I set like 3 alarms to wake up for work. I take it for night terrors. I started taking it about a month ago and also started at 25 mg. I started my anti-anxiety / anti-depressant at the same time as the Seroquel.

I too have just started seroquel. I dont feel like I am in the right place to comment on how it works yet because I am gradually decreasing valium but now that I am down to 1mg of valium the seroquel seems to have less effect on my anxiety than it did when I began (at that stage I was on 10mg of valium am and pm) and no I am not sleeping well but this could also be due to withdrawals from valium.

I am on 25mg of seroquel am and pm and been told I will probably need to adjust the dose over time. I did not tolerate antidepressants well but there is still the option of adding one if things get worse.

Will let you know how it goes once the valium is out of the way. I have hopes for seroquel. Least side effects and worked wonders on my anxiety and sleep when combined with the valium.

I took 50mg last night and still woke up several times, I guess I'll try 75mg tonight. I'm wondering if this is working, I'm still having such vivid nightmares. I hope tonight's dose works.

Hello, I take 300 mg of Seroquel XR at night. It's a great sleeping pill, but I'm tired most mornings.. I also feel the need to eat all day, so i've gained 20 pounds in a few month. The weight gain is causing me to feel depressed. Overall I think the medicine works well.

I took quetiapine xr 50 mg for months.

Last week I went into major depression and I'm now taking 150 mg. I think my psychiatrist was right and Effexor xr works much better when paired up with at least 150 mg of quetiapine xr.

I started on 25 mg 3 times a day then increased the night dose to 50mg. Since then- over a period of nearly 4 years I have decreased back down to 25 mg at night only. However I do have the flexibility to take extra during the day if I need it.

Currently I am taking the 25mg at nights on most nights. I find if I am feeling particularly well, such as when I'm on holiday, I manage some nights without it.

I always carry it in my bag and keep a packet beside the bed. Knowing if I need it, it is there has helped me rely on it less.

T told me that even my maximum dose is a very small dose and that some people have 100s of mg.

I have found it very effective and have not needed any other medication since I started taking it.

I take 50 mg of Seroquel at night it helps me sleep but I find myself too groggy the next day. So I need to find something else. Any suggestions?

I think the Seroquel is helping--I am taking 75mg at night, and almost making it through the night sleeping. Dr. says she will raise the dose next week. I'm hopeful this is working, I seem to be doing better during the days, too.
