Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy

I started reading the first book last night. Unsure about it at the moment, but maybe my head wasn't in a reading mood, or maybe it takes a while to get into the story.

I liked the Swedish films. I am also looking forward to seeing the English version of the film. From the pictures though, I think Noomi Rapace looked much better as Lizbeth than the other actress.

Wow... just finished reading the last book in the series. Lisbeth got some serious payback on all involved in making her life shit, that is for sure. Now I want to see the swedish trilogy as well... screw putting up with the subtitles, I will live with that to see this trilogy in movie form I think.

Then to the English version starting next month.

Well, just chiming in now to say that I've just tracked down readable electronic versions of all 3 (I refused to start reading the 1st until I was sure I could get copies of all 3) and I'm going to finally bite the bullet that so many people have been lobbing at me for months now and begin to read. I haven't heard a bad word about them.

Have just skimmed this thread carefully so far, though I already have my T to thank for a massive spoiler. He has been positively screaming at me to read these for ages now and has dived off his soapbox only after having now recently read the Hunger Games... which he is now screaming at me to read as well!

Geez, the man makes my life hell...

But like a good little client, I'm about to start, so look forward to sharing with those who have blazed the trail.

Well, last night's insomnia has allowed me the first 6 chapters of Tattoo so far.

At this stage, I'd say I'm engaged without being fully absorbed. I do like the way the separate plotlines are being steadily built and stoked though, a nice writing style that I do appreciate and which isn't too longwinded as to disengage you, but isn't too intense as to be overwhelming or create that difficulty in keeping track of where both plotlines are rushing off to.

And I do like the writing style, it's intellectually stimulating without being overdone. Nice.

Looking forward to some action soon I hope.

I'm about as far in as you MD. If I'm completely absorbed, life must wait. So far though I'm happy for lifes diversions to make me put the book down.

At least now I can say I am enjoying it slightly more.

I'm beginning to enjoy this although I haven't had much time to read recently. H has been away so much recently it is nice to spend time chilling with him. After the long weekend, I will read more.

Meant to check in a couple days ago to say I finished Tattoo.

I found it very engaging and enjoyable, without being outstanding. This may well have reflected my own rather fluctuating mental state and difficulty staying engaged with anything, but I did find it quite compelling nonetheless, and even if I hadn't known of the existence of the following 2 books, clearly there were a number of plot threads left tantalisingly open and screaming out for a sequel.

I liked the characterisation and the way the book was crafted, and needless to say, Lizbeth was an intriguing and somewhat troubling character to me. A little too much identifying I suppose, but a lot of cheering her on too... don't we all wish we could exact revenge in such a fashion!

I am now almost halfway through the 2nd book and much more emersed in the whole storyline now, so hope to provide a much more detailed account upon completing this book, which my current levels of insomnia suggest will probably be tonight.

Now I'm getting into the book. I've read quite a bit today and will sign off soon to read some more.

I have also reserved the movie (English version) on Love Film.

My Swedish trilogy DVD pack should arrive this week... looking forward to seeing it on the screen. I will also watch the English versions as they come out, no doubt they will be nicer than reading sub-titles and are also portrayed slightly different due to the character roles.
