Hi Drum,
I haven't been here very long either. I hope you can stay for awhile and feel some healing going on. There's an awfully good, succinct article that spells out why it's helpful to be here. I think it's still on the home page, so it would be really comforting to you at this point to maybe go scope it out. I know with this dam thing, we tend to be disorganized in our thinking and reading things with finite facts presented in an organized article just plain helps. I'm not sure why, but it's also extremelyyyy comforting.
I think here in the forum you probably won't find anyone 'telling' you how to live with this, because really noone can actually acheive that. There are people in various processes of healing, and some who have their PTSD very, very well managed. certainly you'll get some specific advice, huge amounts of information, tons of support and endless compassion. It can be triggering even loggin on, much less posting, much less even reading replies to your posts, but so worth it. I hope you can manage to find the energy to stay.
Having said that, one thing I am able to 'tell' you is that if you can get to therapy it's the best thing to do for yourself. You do sound very bright, so if you can't manage to get there for whatever reason, processing the tools here really is going to help an awful lot. Being here and knowing you're just not ALONE is healing in itself.
I hope you are having some peace with this today, and take care,
Anni
