cuties? cooties ...

Cooties is when you have something that is catching or like a germ - young children often use the term - "you have cooties" and in adult meaning, you have something that is unacceptable. Like you are contagious or they don't want to touch you.

What Cindy said. Cooties is an imaginary disease in the minds of young children. They single one person out and say that he/she has cooties, and then everyone acts like the kid with cooties has the plague.

Yes, yes. THAT I am aware of. Just not the spelling used, as me and a few of the guys I know use it to describe cute women.... "Just saw a batch of cuties down at the Lariat! Wanna go shoot pool down there?"

Back to the ADA thing. In the UK, you don't have to tell your employer unless you need adjustments. Adjustments are things like flexible hours, time off for therapy, a quieter office etc. Bit of a sore point with me - see my "Anger issues" thread to find out what happened to me when I told my employer!

By the way - you only need to tell poepl that need to know. For example, you can allow HR to know about your ptsd and meet with occupational health to discuss adjustments that would be helpful. Your manager can then be told to make the adjustments; they don't have to be told why.

Question.

Can a Diabled Vet, recieving benefits, file for SS disability as well? No one can give me a straight answer.

My DH has a rating just below what it takes to file for Unemployability. He is recieving benefits at 50% for his PTSD...but he is triing to get a higher rating just to meet that 70 percent to then apply for that. In that clause though its states that PTSD is not considered perminiate and will be re-ivaluated at a later date.

I am happy that he is getting disability for it...with out it we would be living in a smaller box then we are now. It is a life altering thing, I'm glad people are starting to see that.

Thanks Anthony for the thread.

I wish there were academic accommodations. I know some unis have this. For me, if I could write any exam longer than 3 hours in two parts (so I can nap in the middle, or have a day to recover) it would help a lot, as would being able to write in a room by myself that's quiet. Also being able to stagger deadlines at times would help.

Yes, Armywife, I am doing it. I get a full VA check and a partial SSD check. Apply now because every day counts!

Auburn Girl,

Have you thought about discussing it with on campus special needs? I'm not sure, but verification from your doctor might be the only thing you need. I know that some profs are also very understanding to individual student needs. I had a student who didn't know how to cope with stress at all and so she blanked out on the exam and didn't write it. I talked her into a retake and she did well!

Questions...again lol

2quilt,
How do you go about doing that? Does it depend on the rating as well? Sry so many questions...just no one around me will help me beside these wonderful forums!!!! God bless.

I am rated at fifty percent and get full SSD. I am trying to get my rating up to 100 percent. I don't know if my SSD will go down then or not.

Hope that helps some, Morgan

I'm debating with what to tell my college board. My grades dropped real low when my abuse was at its worst. Now its too low for federal loans to be accepted. They said I can do an appeal, but that I might have to pay out of state tuition.....I don't know what to do and feel so hopeless. I feel like i can never go to school again. Sigh* i hate that feeling
