I thought other carers in the UK would be interested in these two support systems I found really helpful and supportive.
They provide on line information plus one to one counselling and support for all who need it. They have contacts throughout the UK so you should be able to find a group in your own area via the web sites below. You will be able to meet up with others who are in a similar situation to yourself, caring for sufferers of mental health problems, though not necessarily ptsd.
They both work together in various ways, but have their own separate ways of supporting those who need it.
They web sites are :-

www.carers.org.
I myself have used both, and have found them extremely supportive when life got really tough a few month ago. They are very sympathetic to carers needs and have a vast amount of information on hand. You can go to information days where they will explain how best to help and look after yourself and the person you care for.
The carers group gave me a grant a few month ago so I could afford do a few things for myself, like days out or taking a night class at college. They also have monthly get togethers where you can have a chat and a moan if you need that too.
I hope you find them as helpful as I do. We all need that bit of extra help from time to time.
