Tea Lovers, What Is Your Favorite Tea?

Green tea everything, Earl grey for a brand, mint tea of any variant (but prefering fresh from the herbs themselves) when I'm super out of it and needing a boost back to reality.

Forgot what the Sri Lankan yuminess I've loved a few years back was, so a thing to check out. Tea hunting it is.

My favorites are Chai tea, Ginseng, and on occasion, Peppermint. I love the way Chai tea warms the body during the winter months, and I like Ginseng for it's taste and tonic effect. Peppermint seems to help when I have a headache.

I only drink tea, as my body is very, very intolerant of coffee; the oil in the bean is very caustic. As it's the Summer (green tea season), I mainly stick to longjing and bi luo chun, but I love all Chinese greens. I drink loads of loose leaf tea and lots of herbals; tea in general is quick, easy way to self-sooth, so I'll take as much deep calm as I can get from it.

My favorite herbals are mint, rosehips, dandelion...

Oolongs are my preference for Winter. I just purchased some GABA oolong to try, and it's really remarkable for improving focus and lessening anxiety; I can already see how this will help with symptom management.

Lastly, my go-to tea is yerba mate (very loyal) and has been for the past ten years, when I need to a big energy boost.

<grin> Since this is ongoing... In order of quantity ;)

- Genmaicha ... Japanese toasted rice tea

- Jasmine Tea... Chinese

- Black Tea / Enlish Tea ... Usually P&G Tips. The water is wrong here in the states. Nothing brews quite properly. Extra sugar is always necessary.

- Southern Iced Sweet Tea

- Mystery Macha... It's too expensive for me to replace (it also tastes vile, but that's okay, it's supposed to) so I use this tea exceptionally rarely. Mystery, because it's by non-exporting tea makers in Japan / we received these boxes as gifts many years ago. There are store brands that don't taste as terrible, and are actually affordable... But I sat through so many countless hours of tea ceremonies as a child, that unless the macha has an almost impossible to swallow character to it? It doesn't feel right. And that's the only reason I drink it. Feels like home, down to my bones.

As a true Englishman I am quite partial to a good old cup o char. One must admit to a penchant for the Earl Grey, no milk, a slice of lemon and only a smidgen of sugar, simply to dull the bitterness of the oil of Bergamot. (Only when I am feeling posh)

My usual day to day brew is NATO Standard strong enough to put hairs on any mans chest.
