While reading the board during the last couple of days, I found some threads suggesting that many Sufferers cannot stand depictions of violence. Yet in other threads there are some posts suggesting that it might be an indicator for having PTSD when violent movies have a merely entertaining or even calming effect on you.

I myself belong to the second group of Sufferers. When I feel anxious and distraught, I watch a zombie movie to cheer me up with carnage and desolation. It was good to see that there are others like me on this board.
In addition to this, happy music and sunny weather are major downers for me (the latter is actually a known phenomenon). I cannot stand romantic comedies in an emotional (not taste-related) sense, while Requiems cheer me up and My Chemical Romance (don't judge) to me is party music.

I will now assume that I'm not special and that this constellation of paradoxical mood reactions is a rather common phenomenon in Sufferers who have been traumatised mainly by emotional violence like parental neglect and rejection, mobbing etc. I will call it Mood Paradox.

Based on this idea I formulated the following three hypotheses:
1. When a Sufferer was traumatised mainly by emotional violence Then they do show the Mood Paradox.
2. When a Sufferer was traumatised mainly by physical violence Then they do not show the Mood Paradox.
3. When someone is a Healthy Control Then they do not show the Mood Paradox.

This poll is designed to test the predictions derived from these hypotheses.
I'm looking forward to seeing your answers and reading your thoughts on this topic.

Sorry for the link, I completely forgot.

Since I can't edit my post anymore: Sunny weather being a downer is called 'Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder' - just in case somebody wants to google it.
