I think George Zimmerman should'nt have been following the 17 yr old boy. I think he should'nt have had a gun. The only good thing he did was to call 911.

Now it is a firestorm. It is full of emotions. Little news blips reveal themselves each day.

It sounds like the kid got scared and was defending himself. But Florida has a law about self defense. It sounds like a accident waiting to happen. It is hard with so many kids getting shot unarmed.

The truth is always the first casualty. It will take time to sort thru all of the evidence.

But I think it is a shame that a 17 yr old boy got killed with skittles and a ice tea and a cell phone. There is alot of emotion. Vigilante justice is not justice at all. Just my opinion.

I have no clue why this became such a race issue, and now the Far Left and the Far Right are using this as a battleground to see "who's is bigger than who's". At this point the police, the special prosecutor and the judicial system need to do their job and weigh in all the evidence, without all of the hype.

I am just waiting to see what the facts are, but I have a feeling with all of the media drama, we may never know the facts.

There are protests everywhere, there is a large petition to arrest the guy. He is in hiding for safety. He has a ten thousand bounty on his head for a citizens arrest. He is getting death threatsl 'there was a mix up and a innocent couple were getting hate calls etc. But that has been cleared up

It turned racist when the kid's father told the news that if it had been a white kid it wouldn't have happened.

So now the protesters are wearing hoodiesl It is a sterotypel I remember when my daughter was into the goth look and was accused of worshipping the devil. I told the guy that teenagers are dressing in the pricess of forming an identiy. That he was young once too and rebelled. But he did'nt get it. So I got black hair dye and dyed my hair and started wearing black clothes to show support.

I think this is a very sad and tragic thing that has happened. But it has been happening alot. The parents have alot of good help and support.

I do not know what is going to happen next. There are protests popping up all over the place.

I hope for a peaceful resolution. I do not want to see violence or riots.

Gizmo, you are too awesome!

On topic: I just feel so so sorry for everyone in this story in the news. All those lives totally screwed up. And for what? Not a damn thing (that I can see.) Just so tragic.

It is unfortunate his death is being used for a ... well, just used. I really don't know what to call it ... political issue? social issue? racial issue? To me, it just a human issue. Fear and ignorance turned violent and deadly. This is what happens when people believe everything they think. A thought pops in the mind, hormones are triggered from that thought, emotions dictate behavior -- unless you can stop the reactive process before it starts.

I'm not innocent -- I've wanted to kill people too based on assumptions or minimal information. I've learned to stop, think, and delay reaction till I've had time to think things through. I don't believe there is a single human on Earth that hasn't wanted someone eliminated from existence for one reason or another (good or bad). If not in the past or current, they will in the future. We demonize those that have killed because they are afraid of that same killer instinct inside their own heart.

We are all still animals when you strip us bare of technology, comfortable housing, clothing, ...etc. It is easy to demonize, and hard to wait for all of the information to come in before making a judgment. It does all seem very likely he is guilty of wrong doing, but then again the media has a funny way of twisting things to make it very hard to think anything else.

I began following the controversy when the man was called a "white" hispanic. Having grown up in So Cal, the idea is laughable. Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch person who had a legal concealed weapon permit. No one who intends to commit a violent act calls 911 first, do they? If he expressly intended to do harm, why call 911?

I got ticked of more when the photos spread across the media were not an accurate depiction of the people involved.

Then Spike Lee, Rosanne Barr, the Black Panthers... started aiming for some vigilantie justice. As a result, an innocent elderly couple were fearing for their lives and had to relocate away from their home. While the spin and peddling increased... with all the typical race baiters jumping on board and ramping up the rhetoric, calls for "justice" rang out.

Yeah, I want justice. I want the Black Panthers to be procecuted for putting a price on someone's head. I want law enforcement do a full investigation and I am willing to wait until it's concluded and all the facts come out. I want procecution if Zimmerman committed a crime. I want the revocation of his concealed weapons permit. I want Spike Lee to be investigated as well for the possible commission of a crime. I want our state (I'm in Florida) to review the case and determine whether or not the Stand Your Ground law applies in this case. Personally I strongly suspect it does not as Zimmerman did not "stand his ground" but was actively following someone against the advice of law enforcement.

Bungled or not, the police department was involved and that is good enough for me... the case was still being investigated.

Did Zimmerman make mistakes and unnecessarily create a situation that resulted in a fatality? Yes, when he was advised to stop following the young man. He should have done what he was told.

Do I feel sorry for the loss of the young man? Certainly, though I am highly skeptical of the motivation when a certain segment who claim they seek "justice", inflame and come dangerously close to inciting taking the law into their own hands by putting a price on someone's head. Was that really necessary? Was it useful? Or was it just more of the same... trying to dish out retribution on a percieved criminal outside of the system of law?

There is a system of justice. It isn't infallable, but it's the system we have. I would think that all those who attend rallies would be better served, going home and writing letters and setting into motion the organizational base needed to seek overturning the law if they are against it. Even MLK Jr, has spoken out against the track these people are taking. No one hears them... his voice is drowned out by grandstanders and anger.

I sympathize with the victim's parents. I understand why they would seek media attention and want to put pressure on law enforcement to solve the case. But I'm willing to bet they got a whole lot more than they bargained for once Al Sharpton, and others piled on.

The thing that really gets me about stuff like this is that a large percentage of crime is black on black. Where's the outrage there? Far easier to prey upon the vulnerability of the demographic feeding the sentiment of disenfranchisement and second class citizenship... when a crime involves another ethnic or racial group. What is the point of driving a wedge further and further... if justice is truly what is desired?

How did this case explode onto the national scene? Surely each of the other states participating can pick any number of victims to get justice for. Was it a slow news week or something?

This is a manufactured, astro turfed controversy plain and simple. It draws racial lines and makes it easier to reelect Obama in 2012. Chicago politicing a la "Let no serious crisis go to waste." I venture to say that this whole "controversy" is being carefully orchestrated to rally Obama's 93% of the black vote.

It is so easy to suggest solutions when one is uninformed about the facts. Again I say, truth is the first casualty.

I think people have had it with kids getting killed.

I find it interesting that the police are so silent. As far as I know there have been no reporters interviewing any police. Usually they have a representative to speak to the reporters. Unless there has been and they haven't reported it.

It will be interesting to see what develops as this whole thing unravels.

I hear you Albatross. It has been made into such a racial issue that it is now what some call 'reverse racism'.

I don't have cable, and I live in a town that does not sell big newspapers so I had no idea a price was put out on anyone's head.

George Zimmerman turned himself in. He will get tried for 2nd degree murder which can have a life sentance.

They sure have alot of support in the grief of their son Trev Martin.

I bet they have to isolate george zimmerman in jail.

I can't stand it when others come in and stir up the pot of racism. I get so sick of it. It is happening all over the place. I just heard today that the bounty that was put on george was for dead or alive.

I also heard that a news organization doctored the 911 call. They had to fix it and they had to apologize.

This world is getting wack. I see the death of common sense. It is all emotion, out of control emotion,

This is a very sad and tragic thing that happened. It is scary stuff. It seems like there is a momentum and it is building. Will we have a race war? I know that sounds paranoid, but here and there I hear voices of sanity and reason.
