Sad that nobody likes winter... I was going to invite everyone over for a wonderful winter camping trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness this winter... It becomes really warm and cuddly around the campfire as well as in the winter camping sleeping bags...

Keep us updated if anyone is interested!

I'd be game for trying some winter camping... If anyone else could stand my snoring!

What makes me happy is watching my puppy learn new skills, seeing his pure joy on living, his happiness at seeing me, snuggling with him.

Conversations with good friends. Phone calls with my sister. Birds at my bird feeder.

Unlike many here, I do like winter - even with an under active thyroid and arthritis. I love a fire in the wood stove, wrapping in a soft, fleecy blanket and watching it snow. Shoveling... I can pass on that.

I have a lot going on in my life at the moment and I`m finding it so difficult to sleep during "decent hours " and because of that I get angry and upset when I struggle to surface into the world in the late afternoon. Yesterday when I awoke one of my cats had brought me one of their favorite toys and left it on my pillow for me to find. Which just goes to show sometimes animals are often better than people.

Things that make me smile, or basically help me keep from spiraling into a dark depression given that I'm on medical leave from college with no form of real life.
1. writing poetry
2. talking to my best friend
3. playing with my little sisters
4. my two black cats :)
5. living vicariously through strong female tv and book characters
6. Going more than three days without a migraine
7. Listening to music - especially Alexi Murdoch, Peter Bradley Adams and Nick Drake. I swear they calm me down during stressful moments and panic attacks better than the xanax my psychiatrist prescribed. :)
8. dancing stupidly in the moonlight listening to my headphones because I just got out of a migraine and I'm wide awake and it's 3am.
9. figuring out my mood, usually done by listening to different music genres until one clicks. I have certain tastes depending on my mood. It gets pretty specific, but it works - I know, for instance, that if I'm in the mood for Johnny Cash I'm feeling like I need someone who's experienced pain but still saw beauty in the world to relate to.
10. A really good meal - and I'm not nauseous - nothing better than that :)

Makes me happy when my son gets super excited about a blank sheet of paper and a pencil. Sits down on the floor and very seriously scribbles and draws, marches around with it, glares down at the paper again with a new artistic idea, sits somewhere else, repeat. I love that he draws now. without eating the drawing utensils.
