The Small Things In Life. What Makes You Happy?

Coaching! :geek: I LOVE it! :inlove: I thought I would really like teaching people to survive trauma, but I can't do that. I can't be that close to other traumas. But, what do I know? What have I done with my life except survive? There are so many parts of coaching that are just like teaching a person to survive life. There's pain, sadness, joy, accomplishment, trials, stress, success and failure. It's all there in a 90 min session with kids who (mostly) aren't traumatized.

I think one girl may be traumatized. I don't know. She's definitely got issues. But, I'm not there to be her therapist, I'm there to teach her to play the game and expect her to try and congratulate her on her successes! What a great position to have, right? Who wants to always be the shoulder to cry on? I get to be the one saying "You can do it. I have faith in you. Get out there and give it a try." "Look how great you played! Great job out there! Nice pass!" It's like the happy side of helping people. It's like the next step AFTER you've learned to survive trauma... learning to enjoy life. :) I hope to teach the kids to enjoy their lives, win or lose.

There's this one boy on my team who is very quiet, but very attentive and tries his best. When I talk to him about what I need him to do on the field, and how I think he can do it based on what I saw from him before... his face shows so much modest pride, it fills me with joy. He fights the smile, but the smile wins, lol!
