The whole thing came back when I looked at the wikipedia page. I remember back when he got sentenced, a tranny friend saying that he'd probably have to spend his days on the sex offender wing for his own safety, as there would be plenty of prisoners willing to attack him for killing people and for hurting so many more out of his stupid prejudices.

I hadn't realised that he was an "engineers assistant". I think the news reports at the time said that he was an "engineer".

The "Turner Diaries" had also been Timothy McVeigh (the Oklahoma bomber)'s favourite book and inspiration. He is said to have read "unintended consequences" later, in prison and to have preferred it. Turner Diaries is a fantasy/ wet dream about sparking a race war and establishing a genocidal dictatorship.
According to prof Robert H Churchill, and in contrast to the mainstream image, that the racist, neo-nazi, aryan, millenarian conspiracy theorists were a tiny minority compared to the apparently much larger "constitutionalist" militia movement of the 1990s.

A mutual friend of my mom and I... relocated to Orlando. Heard from her this morning and 3 of his friends were shot.
He is in counseling and will be okay... that's what he told my mom this morning.

It is awesome to watch our community coming together!

@The Albatross i am so sorry to hear that! Its heartbreaking to hear from the family and friends of the 49 victims (the 50th was the shooter by the way...so 50 are dead but only 49 were victims). They are releasing the names alowly. This morning coming to work they had 20 something names out.

Exactly, which is why this isnt, or shouldnt be, a debate about bans on guns. Bad guys will always find a way to do bad things. We all know this or we wouldnt be on the site. So it shouldnt be a debate but rather a vigil...a memorial...remembering of those lost...a place for people to come and talk about how they feel...etc.

No hugs necessary for either me or my mom or our friend David. He's weapons grade managed and has good coping skills and is doing what he can for his friends. Neither me or my mom are affected by what happened in Orlando beyond concern for him and his friends.

I'm still really baffled by it. I'm glad that the person said it so that I know how they really think and we did have a conversation about how insensitive and unkind it was. I still left the conversation fighting back tears and mad.

On another note, I sort of hope ISIS knows the attacker appears to have been gay himself, so they don't use him as propogana for their anti-gay (and anti-everything but their brand of extreme religion) efforts to kills so many...

So sad all the way around.

LGBTQ folks are usually the nicest people ever and make the best friends ever. There is nothing bad to say about them and anyone that does are ignornant people.

Muslims: I had the absoulte honor to have a muslim family straight from Iraq as neighbors. I wont lie, I was scared at first thinking I was going to have terrorist as a neighbor and I couldnt have been more wrong. They were the best people I have ever met. The father of the family waa helping the US miltary in Iraq and it got his uncle killed and his family on the terrorist radar and had to be brought here for saftey. He was helping us though it put his family in danger!

We had many of conversations about muslim religon and christian religon. True muslims are loving, take care of your neighbors, do what you can for whom you can type of people...and they do not hurt others. Millions of muslims practice their religon peacefully, its only the radicals that have twisted it into something else, something wrong, something hurtful that we see and that is no where near the true muslim religon! I spoke to a customer yesterday that said "we need to take all muslims and put them on a boat back to their country and out of this one"...i couldnt have heard the most ignorant statement but couldnt say anything back.

This is why generalizing is so dangerous!
