As requested when I was asking what members wanted, tagging was something that was raised by several people. Now you have it.
What Is Tagging?
Tagging is the ability for you to add specific, searchable keywords / phrases to your thread for the sole purpose of finding content easier. Think of it like an automatic search for a keyword name, as once entered they then become clickable, thus taking you to a page showing all content that has been tagged with the same terms.
Think of tagging along the lines of, a members input on what that thread should be found for.
Who Can Tag?
All members can tag their own content. You can add up-to 10 tags with a maximum of 50 characters per tag.
Premium members have a moderator function enabled, allowing them to tag any thread in the forum with relevant terms that would help define that thread via search.
What Are The Links In First Posts Now?
Tags are set to automatically link any tags automatically to the identical words / phrases found in the first post of a thread.
In other words, when you start reading a thread and see words linked, when you click upon them you will be shown all threads that have been tagged with that term.
This threads first post is an example. I entered the tag 'what is tagging' for this thread, and that term is highlighted once in this first post as it exists.
Why Does Only The Tagged Thread Show In Results?
Firstly, because I only just introduced the system, thus it will take time for members to tag their content, let alone anyone who wants to then add tags to existing threads to help relevance of finding important content.
Secondly, sometimes a tag may be very limited, thus only one exists using that term.
Do I Have To Tag My Content?
No. When creating a thread there is a tag field available for inputting tags, if the thread creator wants to tag their thread.
Otherwise, a premium member or staff may come along and add their own tags from the bottom of the thread page at any time they desire, after creation. They may also remove tags they feel are irrelevant and have nothing to do with the threads content.
How Do I Enter a Tag?
Just enter the word / phrase, then finish it with a comma and the tag will automatically create. When finished, submit / save.
