Tired Of People Asking.

I am rated at 100% and tired of people always asking me why I don't work. I also got rated on my back like 80% alone and just tell people because its my back, Just because I don't want them to ask questions or ask to much. I am fine not talking about it and not hearing about it but its sad when people want bring it up and talk even know I don't. The I get people like I wish I got paid to sit on my ass then people say how can you ride your motorcycle. My back hurts like 75% of the time and yes I do like to go ride when it don't it helps me relax and I can suffer some pain for something I highly enjoy. I can't stand most people just makes me just want to move away and not come back. Sad thing is I am married with kids and the people I am talking about is mostly my in-laws. I just want to really bitch and complain about it but I just don't know what to do.

Hey mate, first of all welcome to the forum. You will get a lot of great free advice from fellow veterans who are in the same boat, but first and I will ask nicely, you have to do a bit of an introduction in the right section, and read this.

Just think of it like this mate. If you were sitting around with a group of your mates and someone walked up, sat down, then started asking for advice, what would the first thing you would ask??? Who the #%$& are you.

Anyway, I served for 20 years in the Australian Army and did tours of Bougainville, East Timor, and Iraq. I am married for the third time and have a wonderful wife who does her best to understand PTSD. I too am 100%, actually I think I am 130% or something like that, I was discharged for my back, shoulders and PTSD.
It was difficult at first. You see sometimes all people have is PTSD and no other injury. They don't have anything to blame it on.
If a stranger asks you why you are not working, ask then if they have tried anal sex, you see, both questions are personal.
On a serious note, tell them you were discharged from the military after your service.

So, now I have given you some information about me so it's your turn. Tell us who you served with etc, etc.

Nice street glide. Mine is black. Many people just don't understand PTSD. If they don't see a the injury then it must not be that bad sorta thing. I just respond that I was injured in the military. Let them figure it out. Family members though, that's different. They should know what's going on and be supportive. Could they be jealous? Here you are receiving money, riding a nice bike, they hate their jobs,etc . etc... Hopefully, your wife and children will understand. Good luck. I've gotten some good advice/info on here.

I usually point out how expensive day care is, and say that if I had to pay for daycare, wages I'd earn with my grade 12 education would be gone before I payed for the gas to get home from work.

First off, it's nobody's damn business what you do. If I have to say it or put it on a form, I'm retired because I'm so frikkin smart, I'm independently wealthy. Second, NICE HARLEY, (but they're still tractors). Understand the back and trying to ride, but I just put on a lowering kit that changed the shock angles and the ride is much more comfortable.

The in-laws I can't help you with. Actually, I was lucky, would have much more enjoyed being around my in-laws than my own family.

Ok my backround is I served 6yrs is the USAF latterly trained over to Army sniper. Been to Afghastan Iraq and Pakistan. Been to the sand box on multiple missions.

Its just I am not here for not to much advice just for support it justseems like I am fighting still and by my self at that.

Your right about still fighting, with 'The Beast' you have to fight nearly every day and regardless of the friends and support you have you can still feel very alone.

As for support, well all the guys on this forum have your back brother.

I've been questioned too, several times, about why I was able to retire early while others had to continue to work. After all, since retirement I've built a house, restored a GTO, Ford truck and 20' boat.

I tell the meddling ass holes this. "I did those things in spite of being 130% disabled, not because of it. However, if they'd like to go half way around the world, load the bodies of close friends onto choppers, get blasted with shrapnel and small arms fire while killing men so close you can see them puke blood just before being sprayed multiple times with Agent Orange, then you too can ride the same gravy train that I'm on. So, hopp aboard shit head. It's one hell of a ride".

I've told a couple of them my income comes from money laundering, drug smuggling & arms trafficking. That usually shuts them up.
