Hi,

I just wanted to check in and see how your situation is.

I agree that anyone under stress is going to have their sleep messed up. It certainly does not mean you have PTSD. What a pain in the backside that you are now second-guessing everything you do! Geesh!

I hope you can find a doc who will reevaluate your case. I know from experience that some counseling centers do take pro-bono pateints. Perhaps one could be found which will listen to your predicament and help you take some action. We need to genuinely help our vets. Having ex-service persons in law enforcement seems to be an extremely beneficial situation for society.

If you have the time, please let us know how things are going?

Take care,

Anni

Well I went to the VA yesterday and registered with them I have to go back Wednesday morning for them to do a full 'check up' I guess so I can be fully in their system.. then after that I'll be given appointments with specific doctors..

On a positive note.. the military apparently didn't finish all my dental work and I'm entitled to 6 more months of free dental care (Was a year but its been 6 months almost already. ) so much for them telling you everything you need to know when you get out.. lol..

Ill keep everyone updated with what happens but it *IS* the VA sooo.. it'll probably take a while.. lol

USMC

Glad you are getting a second opinion!

I agree with everybody here who said the doctor was probably bias and playing the CYA game. I have never heard of "light" PTSD either in almost 20 years of therapy. Your story is starting to make me think that doctors are over diagnosing this as a "catch all" for any normal reaction to loss. That pisses me off to no end for a number of reasons.

Sorry to hear the VA is taking a while. Let us know how things go for you.

I wish you the best,

Liz H.

Finally had my appointment with a Psychiatrist today.. She doesnt think I have PTSD, but we're going to have a few more visits to gain a better rapport and case to present to the psychologist who did the psych eval for the departments..

Shes also going to try to get the psychologist to release his report to her so we can go over the specifics of why the psychologist thinks its PTSD (They wont release it to me because its considered the departments property and there is no patient doctor clause when doing a psych eval for the departments)

So in a month I have another appointment so hopefully after a few more visits things will be cleared up for good.

Good stuff! You can breathe now! lol.
Frankly, my man, I wouldn't wish this on anyone unless I really hated them - and those people are rare! I'm so glad for you.

Wish you luck!

Glad to hear the VA doctors are helping you clear this mess up! Sounds like you have a good plan for getting the doctors to work together to clear you for your chosen profession. ::high five::
