Researchers have determined that psychophysiologic reactivity to trauma-related, script-driven imagery procedures is a promising biological predictor of a post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis.

This research sounds quite exciting to help take more guess work out of the diagnostic process. The scripted imagery is fear based, aligning with PTSD, thus a measured response indicates PTSD or not. Like stated to many people who try and self-diagnose, a PTSD diagnosis has a lot of physical cues that are measured by a psychiatrist to ascertain validity. If those cues are not present, then chances are you don't have PTSD, and instead normal anxiety, depression, sleep, so forth issues due to trauma (adjustment disorder or such oriented).

Diagnosis is a huge issue, and whilst CAPS is good in the right hands, this sounds fundamentally better being aimed at psychological-physiological reactivity rather than just Q&A combined with observation.
