Being on disability, it's difficult to find treatment options for myself. I'm wondering if it's possible to network through this site to find what is available.

A few years ago I might have been covered for therapy, but now those on disability who are covered are covered because of a grandfather law.

I hope this thread goes somewhere. I would want this thread to be for anybody searching who has faced similar barriers like I have.

Thank you,

LD

May I ask - what kind disability are you? No offend here and I'm Deaf. I know the resources for disabilities as well.

Luckyduck, not sure where in Canada you live but in Ontario there are therapy programmes covered by OHIP. I don't know as much about the other provinces and territories but I do know a decent amount about services in Ontario :)

This might sound kind of weird, but have you ever considered hiring a therapist through Presto Experts? I have used it in the past for other things and it's been quite helpful. It's a little pricey, but figure, $50 for once a month counseling is even a step. Phone options are available and sometimes even video. Lots of options. Obviously, not very good if you need medication, but for someone to talk to, it would be worth it.

I don't know about Ontario, but in some parts of Canada there is free counseling through community service societies. Have you looked into that?

There is therapy in Ontario through the hospital. I mean it isn't always the greatest but it is something!
