I get angry when people embarrass me in front of others. You kept your cool...u didn't deserve the treatment you received from that man, but we never know what someone else has on their plate. Stay strong.

Work and PTSD is so hard. I can definetly relate. Whenever I have to deal with other workers especially the loud, domineering ones I can get really triggered too. I had to excuse myself one day because I was so triggered by this one guy. He has a real sarcastic narcissistic personality. I think I'll try and work on this with my T tomorrow. Just to let you know I understand what you're going through. PTSD sucks.

If I may point out, you were validated by the other customers in line. I don't know if that helps.
Suggestion for next time, you can try some grounding exercises. Taking a deep breath in through your nose for the count of 4, exhale through your mouth for the count of 5. Just a thought..........

I trigger all the time at work because I have a very controlling boss and have real issues with people controlling me being opinionated and not listening to my points if view, do I totally understand where you coming from. With any luck he won't revisit the shop and if does hel go to another counter.Dont let him win though hopefully it was a one off. I think PTSD sufferers can trigger and will do regardless of being at work home social events etc, it's unfortunate not pleasant by any means but so true , it's part of PTSD and we have to learn to with it .

I was actually trying to ground, but when my boss came up and said the guy called and complained, well that was all it took and the flashback hit.

Here is an update: I went in a couple of days later and talked with my boss. The guy was apparently very rude to her on the phone, so she understood, and several of the department managers to my boss that I would not do that (argue) with the customer, and that helped knowing that.
