Update: I've written emails to the girls' defense lawyers, telling them that fighting back the way they did was justified given the "guard" failed to identify himself.
They got back to me, thanking me for my email, and one asked what I would like to see in regard to their sentence, which takes place this Friday. I suggested that they were punished enough, given how they were manhandled and that what they needed was guidance, not punishment. I felt that any jail time would be counterproductive and that community service or some kind of program would be best.
