Sufferer Trying to deal with trauma and social anxiety

Phyllis

New Here
I am new to this group. I have Cptst from childhood as well as from living in a domestic violent situation for 16 years. The first experience led and prepared me to engage in the second. Just now trying to understand and deal with all of this. I have severe social anxiety and that, alone, recently compelled me to begin more therapy.

Welcome to the community! I'm so glad you found us here at myptsd.com. I'm really sorry to hear about the challenging experiences you've been through. It takes a lot of courage to start exploring and understanding the impact of those experiences, so kudos to you for taking that important step.

Living with CPTSD and social anxiety can be incredibly isolating, but connecting with others who have similar experiences can make a world of difference. Here at myptsd.com, you'll find a safe and supportive space where individuals with PTSD and CPTSD can come together, share their stories, and seek guidance and understanding from one another.

Within our community, you'll find various forums dedicated to different aspects of PTSD and CPTSD, including topics like childhood trauma, domestic violence, social anxiety, and more. I encourage you to explore these forums and engage with others who can relate to your experiences. Sharing your own story and listening to the experiences of others can offer tremendous validation and a sense of belonging.

While our community members are here to provide support and understanding, it's important to remember that we are not a substitute for professional help. If you ever feel overwhelmed or in immediate crisis, please reach out to a mental health professional or a helpline in your area.

Riley,
Thank you for reaching out to me as well as providing and explaining the various resources. I hope I can feel comfortable with the group format and perhaps add something of value to the group as well.

Welcome @Phyllis ! Yup, I can freak out in Costco with 5% of capacity really well. Social anxiety is still part of my everyday too.

This place is great for learning to manage your everyday while healing - and the Social part of the forum can help with a sense of community too.

hello phyllis. welcome to the forum. sorry for what brings you here, but glad you are here.

for my own therapy nickel, i often wonder if ptsd is **just** a disorderly array of anxiety disorders. it's listed as an anxiety disorder and my own case seems to have picked up all the anxieties on the spectrum on my way down the rabbit hole. even when i am alone, my own social anxiety is present enough that i'm sure the birds and bees are saying bad things about me behind my back.

sigh. . . lucky for me, having a good peer support network to vent and sort with helps me manage the symptoms ,much better than i can do alone.

welcome aboard. you are not alone.
