I never, Ever cared for facebook! I never could explain it but it looks like Daily Mail Online has. I just knew something wasn't right. It's stocks are at an all-time low... I quit Facebook about six months ago after various posts got too triggering. I hadn't felt so free in a long time. I encourage everyone to quit.

I have an account but I don’t ever post (even my friends see a blank page on my profile) and don’t add new friends. My boyfriend isn’t even a friend of mine, lol. I keep the account as it’s necessary for my job. (I hate this aspect of Facebook, that you must be a member to see pages, given that some businesses primarily use Facebook.)

Not really sure why their limiting data mining to a small number of affiliated businesses, instead of ALL affiliated & unaffiliated businesses, is a problem? From a business standpoint, sure, that’s aggressive. In the EU it’s even possibly in breech of anticompetion laws. But from a user standpoint, if anything, it’s a benefit to have as few companies as possible with total access to all of your information.

One key issue is how Facebook took 'aggressive positions' against rivals and denied key competitors such as Vine access to its data, which shut down shortly after.

The EU is aggressively cracking down on tech monopolies and this summer fined Google a record $5billion for breaching its competition laws.

If i didn't talk to my hubby at work via facebook, I wouldn't have it. I too find it incredibly triggering. But I'm scared to death of phones. I don't even own one lolol. So messenger it is. I don't have any fb friends..but my profile is public, oddly enough. Go figure. My cat has more followers than I have.

You can set your profile to private afaik.

IMHO it is more a matter of what you share and how, than where. Digital anywhere, the platform does not change much where you put it. How you act makes the difference.
