This is what i mean by ultimate trust from my husband who was never very good with knives or anything sharp too near to him in someone elses hands from an incident that happened to him years ago well before i met him but not related directly to his ptsd.
I needed to fit a carpet yesterday into our spare room which i use for my computer, sewing machine and stuff like that. It has been rolled up on the stairs since december, if it had not been laid yesterday i would have got rid of it because i was sick of it getting in the way.
The ultimate trust bit happened while laying it. I had actualy forgotten about the problem he has with knives ect. I had benn cutting it on my own for the most part, until it came to the last few fiddly bit and i needed his help to hold it staight while i did this. It was only when i got to the last few inches and had to be careful due to the sharpness of the new blade that i realised what was going on. I said "where are you fingers so i dont catch you with this last bit " his reply was " it's ok they are not in the way". After i finished i looked at him and said " god you must trust me i forgot that you don't like knives too close" he just looked at me and said " no problem i knew i was ok with you"
That is ultimat trust in anybodys language.
Best wishes
