New Here
Hi all, I am PureBliss. I just joined a few days ago. Basically I was diagnosed with PTSD in April 2016, but I have received lots of diagnoses before, like depression, anxiety and bipolar 2. Multiple traumatic situations in my life, but they are quite unusual things that people would not normally think of as trauma. But I guess I found them really difficult to handle when I was that age and my family was unsupportive emotionally. I have high distrust, dissociate often, cannot focus at all most of the time, hypervigilant etc etc. I also lost a loved one three years ago, which destroyed me. I am learning in therapy to recover from all these things. It's really really hard to deal with PTSD while studying and chasing my dreams. It feels like I can never get there. But now I don't lose hope, because I know if I do, I will definitely not get there. So I tell myself to work hard on recovery everyday, hopefully one day I will be okay and not distressed by the traumas.

Hi @PureBliss
Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you found it and really hope you find some emotional support as well as friendly, understanding ears. I know I have, even if I don't post very often.

Just a couple of thoughts. Good for you seeking help with a therapist. I think most would agree that's an important step. Second... I think you may a distorted view of what trauma is. Just because others may or may not agree, you have responded to events beyond your control. No one has the right to decide for you what defines trauma. Trauma is something that happens that overwhelms and distresses your mind and heart in a way that you alone need support and coping tools to heal from. You are not to be judged or minimized for responding the way you have. We're all individuals. We all respond differently to different situations. There is no right or wrong way. Please do not let others define you.

I applaud your positive attitude in recovery. You seem to be a strong individual - probably more than you realize. You are working hard and that's fantastic!

You're so right! PTSD is more than hard. That's being very generous. It's a journey that involves a lot of hard work along with plenty of postitive support.

Again, good for you!

Welcome to the discussions  I trust this place helps you. It's extremely helpful in light of the mass measure of individuals who feel comparative and get it. There is a considerable measure of guidance and backing to be found here :) I hope this astounding group helps you as much as it helped me, understanding all the comparable stories, and taking in a ton along the way. Hugs if you accept
