This is a widespread practice in south Asia called "boy play." I read an article a few years ago on it and, in a nutshell, powerful men think of young boy sex slaves as a kind of status symbol. The more attractive the boy, and the more of them, the higher one's status.

Realized something after I posted. How girls and women are treated is every bit as horrible if not worse. Not trying to diminish that at all.

I read a similar article (sorry, I don't have the source) the other day about how our service people actually get in trouble if they report on the Afghani troops when they catch them abusing children, even though the boy abusing is no longer legal there. I'm not sure if girl abusing is legal. It's hard to see what the solution is. Hopefully the new reforms in Saudi Arabia toward modernization will inspire other middle eastern areas to raise their standards of living.

Yup. If you want to be a journalist or a social worker? Change careers. Hell, Join the state department, if you want to affect policy. As a soldier? Your job is not to interfere with local problems, getting people killed at best and an international incident at worst. Goes double if the baby raping asshats are our allies in the region.
