We can’t afford a parade, we are trillions of dollars in debt as it is. If I were a vet, I would want...
You still do not understand...there is a lot more going on than you are aware of, and POTUS will not disclose his actual reasoning for his tactics. He is not going to tell everyone what he IS doing. That only tells the other side (as well). If only you knew the stuff I learned about this "kind of stuff", not from politics either. There is so much going on She Cat. You're only jumping at shadows. But I do understand your concerns.

I'm for it! It is a way to honor our military. And what is the big deal? In my state, we have already state military parades. What is the difference? A national parade will show national pride, honor, and solidarity to our military. We are focusing on the wrong subject matter. If someone thinks our President is a 'dictator' wanting to brag on his stuff, so be it. What better way to speak to other real dictators who only understand show of strength. I guess I don't get all riled up over this. If it is only about the money, lets, knock off unnecessary funding for frivolous spending the government has on the books. There are some doozies :woot: on the list...just saying'. Or maybe we ought to ask for the money we loaded into an airplane and gave to Iran...that would pay for lots of military parades! Everybody is spending too much energy hating the President. Maybe we need to put that energy into finding common ground. A house divided against itself cannot stand. If we fall, it will be both parties fault, if we fault a party, at all. I hope I get an invitation to the parade. I wanna go. An outing will do my PTSD brain good. Hope they throw candy from the tanks as they roll through the streets! :D:D (Had to lighten the thread a bit.) We react so often to things that we really do not know that much about. My husband's father was a spook, a spy, for the government and he kept telling us that we had no idea how deep the government goes. Because of our security, we are only privy to tidbits of information. He would tell us that if we knew, in full detail, what is being protected and strategized over, for the sake of the country (us), we would live in fear. Boy, did he have stories to tell, as they became declassified! Sadly, most declassified when he was in his 80's and he died shortly afterward.:() Ok, everyone, take deep breaths and do some grounding! :) Sleep well! I mean that!

Well, they just passed yet ANOTHER short term budget which will put our nation further into debt. I dislike Rand Paul, but I will give him credit for standing up to his own party and voting against this preposterous bill. This bill will have ramifications for generations to come. You can’t keep spending money that you DON’T have!!!

And the Dreamers weren’t protected in this bill either. Although the republicans have promised to have debates next week on the issue.

Can’t find the article right now, but will post it when I find it, but they are working around things to make it harder and harder for immigrants to stay in the country. Now they are planning this.... If any immigrant has used ANY federal help, such as food stamps, credit for insurance, federal aid for housing, ect.... Their chances of being allowed to stay in country have just plummeted....

They talk out of both sides of their mouths, saying one thing in front of the camera and doing everyth8ng they can to undermine our way of life.

As far as POTUS is concerned, I will keep my comments to a PM group. Because at least there I am allowed to say what I really think about him. And it ain’t pretty!!!!! I loath that man....

Oh gosh,

The vested interests who own much of the media, certainly control the talking points.

The republics of the classical world were never "popular" forms of government. The "free" citizens of Athens were outnumbered 7 to 1 by the slave population. And only about 1 in 14 was eligible to participate in the "democracy".

Even during the Republican" period of Rome, the "free" aspects were for the Plutocrats alone.

The reasons for the united state being a "Republic" rather than a "democracy" include good and bad.
The predecessors, even that most liberal of all, Rhode Island, never contemplated a full franchise, only an oligarchy.

Alexander Hamilton's coup d'ètat that was the constitutional convention, was a power grab in favour of Yankee financial, merchant and industrial interests, and for taxing the rest of the people through a tarriff that directly favoured those interests.

There's a really good reason right there why he didn't want to be subject to popular interests. His entire program was to screw the bulk of the people over, in favour of his big financial, merchant and industrial backers.

Re spending money that's not there... exactly!

united state defence spending is approximately $1 trillion a year

That buys a lot of propaganda and influence from those who don't want a drop in income. It pays for a lot of think tanks to invent new threats and to justify even more of other people's resources being funnelled into their masters pockets.

We don’t need any parades.

We don’t have the money. The money isn’t there. Any money for a parade would be more debt borrowed from other countries.

If my bank account was in the red, it would be foolish to go into greater debt to throw myself a party.

America’s federal government does not have the money for the vast majority of things people want the federal government to do.
