@leehalf, I cannot wrap my mind around how you could possibly compare Trump to Obama? The only president in my lifetime who had no scandals attached to him. Who was a bright and shining light of liberty for all.

@leehalf Please tell me how you compare the two. In particular, I'd like to hear how Trump is representing you. As for me, I could potentially lose the only way I can presently afford health care. As for me, I've seen rampant white nationalism, that has both directly and indirectly promoted violence and hurt my friends and community. ALSO, I am a public school teacher, so there is that aspect as well.

I was not a fan of Obama. He went back on his word on the patriot act and while Obama care helped a lot of people, fining people for not having healthcare was uncalled for. I was not a fan of Clinton because it was a continuation of what we have had for the last 20 years.

But Trump, Trump is a foul disgusting individual a racist, misogynist, narcissist who has zero diplomatic skills and is profiting as president which is a criminal act.

Trump being in office has helped me appreciate what Obama did do for our country despite the things I disagreed with him on. He knew how to work with other other leaders, he was tactful, and didn't run his mouth on things he had no clue about. It took someone like Trump for me to appreciate the fact that Obama was a good president, he just wasn't what I wanted.

Trump isn't a good president. We might as well have Charles Manson in the white house because they aren't all that different. Trumps daddy just happened to have more money and I think Charles Manson is quite a bit more intelligent.

@leehalf I am very against the Keystone pipeline but Trump pushed it through via an executive order.

I am a news junkie and the only ones I've ever heard about were Benghazi and Keystone. But then I only consume reliable mainstream news sources, like NYT, WaPo, NBC. I don't consider illegal immigrants and the ACA to be scandals. Benghazi was a horrible event, but Obama was not responsible for it. Neither did he institute the pipeline. And don't get me started on Pruitt. The best anti-EPA head choice ever. I consider a president who has had numerous staff people meeting with Russians -- who attacked us and are still attacking us -- to be a scandal.

I've gotten a number of help-tickets on this thread being locked.

Here were the ground rules:

Enough time has passed that the rage about Clinton or Trump has passed, for the most part. This is the only thread allowed about US Politics, Trump or policy under the current administration and/or future election.

To which I added:

The problems we had in the past were related to Trump = general evil vs. Clinton = general evil...Here's to hoping a thread can exist for US politics/events generally, not only concerning the President.

I'd like to hear you elaborate on one of the above points.

So now, it's to be a thread about how Obama was/was not a good president, Clinton would/would not have been a better president, and Trump is better than/worse than all of the above.

If you want to debate whether or not Trump should have been elected, is or is not mentally ill, Clinton was better/worse, Obama was worse/better - take it to PM, or express your emotions in your diary.

This thread can exist if it discusses events inside of current US politics. Re-hashing the election is not worth it, as a topic - it's too much work to moderate. Other forums exist where you can vent about that - I'd recommend the comments section of any major US news website.

Please remember - you are not owed a thread on why you hate/do not hate Trump, any more than you are 'owed' a thread on the latest Kardashian scandal (whatever that may be). This is a PTSD forum. It has a social component. This area of the forum is for discussing news and politics of all sorts.

If you value the discourse in this thread, you'll stay specific to events within US politics now, and not sink back into generic partisan tug-of-war.

I'm re-opening it, for now. But we won't mess about with thread bans, too much. Be smart about what you respond to, and how you respond to it.
