I’m not sure, yet, but figured continuing in that rhetoric will not be twice productive to the thread so better abstain anyway.

Ditto.

And with the incredible Math scores, at what cost though. Corporal punishment should not be how yo...
@Ronin Surely you are not making the case that there us no difference in the outcome of a medical emergency if it takes ten minutes to get to a patient as opposed to one hour and ten minutes. Clearly you are mistaken. In emergency situations seconds matter. Also, it is a logical fallacy to make the exception, the rule. It is not hard to come up with thousands of medical malpractice cases in the US. One that comes to mind immediately is the Dr. who sexually assaulted hundreds of female atheletes. I think his name was Dr. Nasser, not sure. I do know several institutions did a nice job of covering up for this guy. Maybe we are just better at covering up atrocities in the US...I think the self righteousness, elitism and parochialism in the US, and lack of compassion for cultures different from our own is unfortunate. This is how we have earned the reputation of the "Ugly Americans" abroad. :D

The US and Russia are in a proxy war with each other in Syria. Russia backs Assad, who appears to have gassed his people again. Now Russia is blaming Israel for an attack on a Syrian base and China just signed a military agreement to back up Russia.

What does the US do next?

I reckon it would be good to get Assad out of power. But I am as hopeful of that as winning the lotto and I don't buy tickets :meh:

Haven't caught up on the news today but a lot of broadcaster's are not showing what's going on regarding the gas attack (in a rare case of not wanting to show too much graphic detail)..they say. I cannot understand Russia or China aligning themselves with Assad or any of the other rabid warmongers in the region.

Do they not think he will dump chemicals on anyone he disagrees with once he has complete power?

@blackemerald1 I don't think the Russians and the Chinese want war with the US. I don't think they would deliberately seriously provoke us. Doesn't make any sense for them. Trump announced the US wanted to leave the Syria. There are other countries who don't want the US to leave the area. Think...why would Assad provoke us now that we indicated that we wanted to leave? He should be happy to let us leave. Ditto the Russians. No, I think some other State actors are trying to sabotage our exit. The list is pretty long: Israel, Turkey, Britain, France, the Kurds, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, etc., etc. The Israelis are rightfully concerned about facing Syria and the Russians alone. All the Sunni Muslim countries don't want to face Shite countries (Iran, Iraq) and forces (Hezbolla) alone. The British, the French and the Germans are afraid of losing complete control of their oil interests in the region to the Shites (Iran, etc.). The timing of this gas attack is too coincidental. I suspect somebody is trying to keep us there. It may be better for us to hang around the area to reassure our friends. We have to be careful not to over react, it can spin out of control, resulting in many, many more people dying, and suffering. We are definitely a stabilizing force in the area if nothing else. We are not nearly as dependant on Middle-East oil as we once were, the Europeans are. :D
