We all knew it was coming... but it seems it is now here. The US is broke, can't even afford to pay their own Government employee's now. Looks like US citizens won't need to revolt... the Government will be owned by other countries soon.

Pick your news story... its hitting our news here already... they don't have the money which is forcing the lack of decision on monetary policy right now. Even troops may miss pay packets until something can be sorted. Will soldiers continue to fight when not paid? Interesting thought...

It is political posturing. Sadly. It happened in '95 and '96. Only non-essential jobs are furloughed, and in each occasion before back pay was given even to those that did not work. So meant paycheck was late, but it arrived. So if you are non-essential (US PARKS, IRS, ect) 3 weeks off with pay.

Will to soldiers continue to performs their duties? I feel about 99.99999999% confident they will just as before. Service is about more than a paycheck...and it might be late, but I think you would see a revolt if our servicemen were to not be paid. And to any present/former US military - thank you for your service. (rest of you too...but I'm in US so they are the ones that protect me :tup: )

Too bad it's so hard to immigrate to Oz, or I'd already be there Anthony. I'm a 7th generation American and I hate this with a purple passion. It is an impotent rage though I've been known to be at protests and support fiscal responsibility even though it's gonna hurt. It's gotta happen or our country is lost.

I sure hope the military gets paid. My oldest son is in the Navy and has a wife and 3 sons. He has served his country for almost 10 years. The men in the military deserve to paid.:tdown:

Oh, well the real reason behind the stupid budget kefluffle is the Repulican attempt to quash Obama's health care plan- if it's not funded it does not exist. There are also various social services ( like there were many left ) in the massive cuts they wish to institute, always a Conservative favorite when it comes to things-to-friggin-loathe. Yes, the US is broke but it's not actually the reason behind the current nonsense going on on Capitol Hill at the moment. I heard a great quote from one of these cold-eyed, self-serving *sswipes. " We intend to cooperate but we're just not going to compromise." OK. So they WILL hold our service men and women hostage in order to disallow this one, single element of social justice for all Americans-the same service people they claim to cherish and wrap in flags and kudos as they send them off to some oil-soaked war. Then they'll blame Omaba for the whole mess-HE'S the one holding out, protecting what's left of the rights of the poor, the disenfranchised ( or what's left of these now largely imaginary rights ) the underprivaleged and increasingly the entire middle class if they could but see it. He's the only voice they have, lost in the whining of the priveleged as they protect Wall Street, bankers, foreign interests and their own 600 dollar tassled loafers and Prep School endowments.

The US is broke, the American people are broke but let's call for an accounting of the folks at present engaged in trying to point the finger at Obama with this budget battle. You will find they are not.

Yes I am sometimes naive but may I ask why do I sense you have issues with America? I really do not want to argue I am just curious. I do not think I have been on this PTSD forum long enough or nor have I had the chance to view all your posts but I m kindly asking you to explain your position and why it is the way it is.

Ok Mr Anthony I kinda get where u might be coming from BUT it is to late America is not run nor will it ever be run in the manner it may have once been. We are a nation owned and controlled by the wealthy SIMPLE. The wealthy control everything, the media, health care, education, food, business, courts, Internet even water in the united states. Oh by the way this is how they control the people. These are corporations not just owned by Americans but the wealthiest of all foreign countries ALL countries not just Americans but the wealthiest of all countries. So if you want to pick on Americans please pick on all the wealthy.

As per the article u suggested for reading it outlines that teacher's, PD, Fire and medical are being layed off... Guess what they are all govt employees heavilly supported by tax dollars and guess what the private sector cannot any longer support the benefits these groups think they deserve. In fact they have been trained to believe they deserve more than the persons (The private taxpayor) can afford to pay them DUHHHH. We do not have enough payers of tax to pay for bloated govt. Simple, In fact the huge costs for defense we cannot afford either.

As for the persons in the armed services guess what it is not your fault the wealthy of the world promised you pay it cannot afford , health care for u it cannot afford, education it cannot afford for U, housing it cannot afford for U and so on and so on.I cannot afford it either! Why? They (the privilaged govt leaders and puppets of corporate wealthy) needed to make false promises to get the smartest to build the defense and offensive weapons to inflict power and might and they needed the most naive to do the hand to hand killing to sustain status quo. It really is simple Money Money Money it is not Anthony just American greed It is the greed of the rich and powerful of all that have interest and ownership in America and there own countries like CHINA, INDIA, ITALY, RUSSIA, ISRAEL blah blah blah. To which we Americans support and bow to by buying there products or supporting there needs with the blood and sweat of the oh so naive and easily impressed American youth that are trained by the wealthy to falsely believe we are all equal and deserved.

Marlene, I must agree with you I have seen Anthony's rules and i am only guessing he might be ticked off at how he feels the US troops and coalition forces may be being treated.(at least that is what i hope he is) that said as a son of a service mother and father and uncle and father of family whom entered the military to serve. Although I did not (honest disclosure) But i did volunteer for a number of years in EMS. for free..(public service) . I find what is happening in policy that effects PTSD (cause and treatment) is directly related to politics and I think Anthony and all us here know that as well. I think he does not want to rant about issues that may not be as closely related to PTSD as the governmental and political topics he choses to keyboard about. Just an opinion and observation and I will always stand to be corrected.
