Hey guys, I have been having a look around. I know some threads get hijacked and go off on totally different tangents, but you get that with us. But incase you guys and gals don't know, there are certain aspects when replying so people don't get confused.
Once a thread has been created down the bottom you will get 'Report', 'Like', and 'Reply'. We all should know that reporting at thread goes straight to Anthony. This can be used for either spammers, someone in the wrong house, or you can even use it if in the conversation a question is asked and none of us have an answer. We know what the 'Like' button is, but maybe we don't understand how the 'Reply' button works.

Now if a conversation has gone off on a tangent, even for 10 pages, you can bring it back by going back to the original conversation and pressing 'Reply'. You can then highlight parts of text, delete other parts, then ask your question or comment. It will help us all know where its going.

I will demonstrate below.

It just stops the conversation getting confusing. For instance we might be talking about sleep, which leads to dreams, which could lead to deserted islands, I don't know, then someone just pipes up about sleeping and as our attention span is small, we would wonder where the f*ck it came from.

But yeah good point jimmy, I think that is where a lot of guys have problems with Quoting aswell. When I quote I use the reply function.

You can do that on Multiple posts all into your own one you are writing.

Just keep hiting reply as often as needed. Just make sure the cursor is at the end of the current text or you get a load of shit, like below.

The important thing which someone else brought up to me was that we, as we do, go off on rants and then leave them. For instance the 'This is Funny' thread turned from a guy falling over on parade to weapons.
It then stopped. And we changed to other funny stuff. Tom did not see that the post was a few days old and we had forgotton about it. He then started talking about M16, 45's, etc. It confused the living shit out of some of us.

I suppose it's just how it is sometimes. I do it all the time at home. I will be talking about one thing, and just change subject and Margaret is totally lost. lmao.

All is good now. Tom and myself have said our piece privately to each other. Good mates now. Unless he is on the plane to Townsville. lmao.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean Jimmy.

I allmost went of on a tangent on the thread you started with the pictures of yourself. I found one of mine the other week, `91 all camed up in the back of a M109. I allmost started off on the shit we used to rub on our faces. LOL it realy is amazing how easy it is for us to just see a different story in the smallest of things.

I can do it with the misses aswell. Just turn a conversation round in a split second. But at least (unlike her) I don`t start in the middle of a sentence. Women!

I post a lot over at the civie PTSD site for the more mundane aspects of PTSD. Those threads can be dozens of pages long in no time and dozens of topics off of the OP. I often read the first few posts then want to say something about them or the OP's post but don't want to or unable to read page after page of posts. I hit reply to the post I want to reply to, edit out the extra like u said above, then make my post. It's not unusual for my post to be unrelated to where the thread has wondered off to.

Here, if I post, I often just try to go with the flow of the conversation.
