This is very specific to combat veterans versus, and the equivalent is when an employer discriminates against employing a young woman who is newly married and looking to have kids in the next few years. Another stigma for combat veterans specifically.

Military veterans feel they are facing discrimination at civilian job interviews as potential employers quiz them about having post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a new survey suggests.

One-in-10 veterans have had interviews where a potential employer has raised concerns about them having mental illnesses as a result of their military service.

PTSD is seen as a major barrier to a successful civilian career, according to a third of former-military personnel, the survey by Barclays found.

Veterans are battling a public misperception that many are suffering from metal illness, a former Army officer who now heads a programme recruiting veterans for the bank said.

Interesting article. It does apply to all vets in a way. I know vets without deployments who were asked the same questions. People can assume veteran= deployment= PTSD.
Or even veteran= PTSD. It is worse if the employer finds out about deployments.

It's a downside to the additional awareness. People make assumptions every vet has ptsd

I wish people would understand that PTSD does not mean crazy or violent.

That's disgusting.

It's nobody's f*cking buisness.

I read an article a while ago (if I can find it again I'll link it)... found it. I'll put them in spoiler tabs because the links are ridiculously huge.

It's about a paramedic with ptsd who was cleared for duty by his doctor after actually getting help. He was then denied for returning to work, after the Alberta College of Paramedics licencing council, found him medically unfit.

This council, is not made up of physicians or psychiatrists.

I hope this wasn't too off topic @anthony I felt it was relevant. Given it is about workplace discrimination against people with ptsd by employers overreaching their credentials.

Feel free to delete this post or move it, if you feel it's not relevant. Won't bother me any.
