There's a little bar & grill near here that makes the best deep fried cheese curds in the world. Maybe I can get a take out order? (Deep fried cheese curds might be a regional thing, but they're awesome. Probably horribly bad for you, but awesome.)

So, those of you who don't eat meat, or sugar, are dairy products on your menus? (Broccoli is MUCH better with cheese. :))

Apple cake:

Stir...
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon salt
Set aside.

Mix...
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup oil
2 eggs
1 Tablespoon vanilla
Beat with mixer 2 minutes.

Add dry ingredients to mixture.
Beat on low speed till combined.

Fold in-
3 cups chopped peeled apples
1 cup chopped toasted pecans ( optional, if I don't use pecans I'll throw in an extra cup of apples.)
2 teaspoons lemon peel (optional, I never have a lemon in the house;) .)

Pour into...
The recipe calls for a 10" tube pan, whatever that is? So I use a 9" x 13" cake pan. I've even used a muffin pan.

Bake cake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit 1 hour.
Cool 10 minutes.
Remove from pan. (which I never do) lol
Cool completely.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar. (I rarely do this either).
Cover and store in the refrigerator.

Yep. I know. Full of sugar. Flour. Oil. So bad but oh, so good. :)

For this party though it's vegetarian!!!!

I think by the time the party is over, we will have gained 10lbs and been sick. Too much food to indulge with. But I love the idea of all of this.

I lost my mom earlier this year and my father Dec 21st, 5 years ago and so, I think a virtual gathering is a wonderful idea for those of us who isolate, are alone, or who are feeling alone on Christmas day.:cool::notworthy::tup:

I hope to be able to join the festivities. Can I bring some special brownies for those who wish to indulge?...otherwise I will have to stay home and eat them all every last one till they are gone all by my little ol' lion self. tee hee ;):whistling::D:p:cool:
