Dr.s are uneducated when it comes to vitamins because they only get about 40 minutes total on vitamins in medical school. Less if they went to med school pre 1996. Vitamins often need other vitamins to work. If you are taking Vitamin D3 it is absolutely necessary to take Vitamin K. It is much like how you need Vitamin C to utilize iron supplements. Calcium D3 and Vitamin K all need each other for your body to use it properly, unless it is D3 from the sun.

Supplementing with vitamin D is relatively safe. Most people will not experience side effects unless the supplement is taken in excess. But too much vitamin D in the blood can increase calcium levels to undesired limits. Although calcium is essential in the body, too much of it will contribute to weakened bones and immunity. It can also cause kidney damage and liver impairment. If you notice any side effects (slowed metabolism, fatigue, headaches, dry mouth, stomach upset, metallic taste, sleeping disorders, lost appetite), you definitely should stop taking it. The best thing in you case is visiting the doctor and take the blood test. Link Removed D is individual for different people, so it's also a reason to consult with a doc.

I have just come through a Vitamin D Toxicity. It was one of the worst experiences I have endured. Get your labs and see your Dr. It progressively got worse as it is fat solvable. The symptoms became severe befor the test was explored; confusion, muscle weakness, stomach cramps. These were mistaken for early onset dementia, medication and ulcers. All because of VIT D supplements!!!
