There’s a degree of safety you get coming forward once you know someone else has already reported the same abuse you went through....
I think that's how the apps in that article aim to help. You make a complaint about someone. The information is kept secret but if anyone else has complained about the same person, the app puts you all in touch with each other.

So far it has been for use by college students and has led to an increase in reporting. But they want to roll it out to workplaces too.

I think it sounds like such a good idea.

It absolutely is.

One of the issues with people pursuing civil claims is that the matter is kept confidential between the parties and lawyers involved in the claim. This means that while you may be fighting to prove that the person abused/assaulted/harassed you, you may not realise that the same person has fought a dozen other claims, making the exact same allegations against the exact same perpetrator. Each settlement will come with its own confidentiality agreement binding the parties.

To a degree, each allegation must be taken on its own merits. But patterns of abuse are surely relevant. The current system of pursuing these matters via civil claims works to prevent victims from supporting each other’s claims when dealing with the same perp, because of the strict confidentiality in play.

Is an unregulated, unsubstantiated database/app the answer? Idk. But something needs to change in the way we manage these claims.

Now it’s hit MSNBC. One of there contributors Mark Halprin has been accused of sexual misconduct and is stepping down for awhile to straighten things out. AND last night Senior Bush was accused of grabbing someone’s breast and telling dirty jokes while I office. Both have accepted responsibility and have apologized for their behavior.

What I don’t get is the how this has gone viral and just how many men have been accused of this. Why do they think that doing things like this is just OK and acceptable behavior.

Would it be any different if women went around grabbing their dicks and or shoving our hands in a mans pants? Would that be ok for us to do and be acceptable behavior?????? NO, so why do they think that they can without and consequences. And then most of the lie anspd say they never did it...... assholes...
