Ned, Royal Signals????? LMAO.

Safety in numbers. We called it a 'Jimmy Badge'

Oh yes. My twat badge is a Jimmy. And I could tell you stories about having to pay respect to that emblem at Catterick.
Yes mate Royal Signals, the most Gung-Ho Corps in the British Army, and all I wanted to do was mend radios.....

Well I wore the dreaded 'Jimmy' as well. I was of the operator kind. I used to hump those stupid 77 sets or 25 sets if you wish to go back longer, along with the secure gear, my pack weighed near 80kg when I used to support the grunts.

During Rookies we had to adopt the one legged stance. lmao. Good memories.

So Jimmy you was a Combat Wombat!
(Sorry Alan we seem to be claiming ownership of your post here, bit like Bos, really)
For the benefit of other readers,
I was a shiny-arse (Tech)
Other trades include:
Hairy-arse (Liney or Rigger)
Handbag (Data Telegraphist)
Rupert (Officer)

signals... all bracketed under the banner of lord... Thats as in gay, not as in baby jesus.

Luckily we didn't have any radio operators in our unit. Not much for them to do, truth be told. We didn't have a radio. And we couldn't call in an air strike, as we didn't have any planes!
There was this fellah down near Dobrinja 1 flats, (you will know them Ned, on the airport road right near the JNA frontline toward Grbavica. Directly opposite where they had a couple of tanks on that little hill on their side of the airport)... anyway, he was half decent with the old RT. I think he must have been ex-JNA signals or something. He had a bit of an ariel set up on some scrub for a bit. I think our boss may have had some comms with somewhere. Ilidza maybe before it fell, or maybe Korpus HQ. He was killed early on and I think his wife went Shaheeda.
We did have military police and logistics at korpus level. But no idea what they did. All the same cap badge though, just in different quality. We were so bad at one point, I saw somebody with a badge done in pen! I don't know how we got through it be honest.

Both of my Navy ship badges look like a drunk 3rd grader did them, then they robbed the entertainment fund and got somebody to do the block lettering. 6 dollars goes a long way.

My Father was on the USS Canberra. Cool badge. Kangaroos jumping around holding missiles. Must of had a bigger entertainment fund. A whole tenner maybe.

Oh Yeah back on thread. I think drinking is only a problem when it's a solution. We're probably not all raging alcoholics and most likely would not survive an AA meeting for 2 minutes before calling somebody a big fat c*nt.
I guess the problem arises when we use it to do something, like kill pain, or forget.

For all my angelic behaviour as of late....... I was dragged home by one leg still hanging off the wagon last night. Not sure what it was, but I just wanted to check out of my life. Sat down at a table alone, and drank for 4 solid hours. Beer and Jager. Feel like absolute shit today and a bit like a big twat.

Oh well, start over.......again.

Badges? We don't need no stinking Badges!
Marines dont wear funny litte hats with prancing faries and funny colors.
We only wear our name, ribbons and rank.
Oh there might be a few extra like the parachute wings and scuba thingy I earned but sorry, I cant relate to prancing faries and little elves waving French surrender shields. sorry. :)
Right prick I am eh? The only upside to the french is the wine thay have in thier field rations. English rations were much better than ours. One greasy stew they had was like eating dog turds but the rest was spot on. We had 12 varities of freeze dried crap. Even a dog refused it.

marines don't wear funny hats? do you have them ones that they used to wear in macdonalds?

And the shield is like a french design, not is. Its the shield of Kralj Tvrtko I of Bosnia. Our brigade armshield didn't have that. We had it in green. I quite liked it. It was made from some old cloth backing for cars or something I think. Or pond liners. And when I say armshield, you could do what you wanted with it. I put mine on the front of me jacket. This bird who did a bit of RPG-ing, she had it on her beret (made from a pair of cammo trrousers).

Here it is. Prepare to be amazed! I saw the price of this stuff on ebay. I am going to start looking through me draws. If I had a unit badge from my little group I would be minted.

I know. I let that go. He should have basically said:

"I'm in the AGC and I like pioneers to bash my back doors in, while I pretend to count blankets in a girls voice".

Lord that he is.
