Ripped the door bell mechanism off the wall.
I was still sleeping and heard this strange sound that I thought was some new species of a bird at first, and got super curious.
I sleep with a fan on for the white noise, so it's hard to make out other sounds throughout the house when it's on.
Once I turned the fan off, I heard the door bell going off repeatedly, and in between, it would buzz continuously with no "ding".
Curiosity shifted to fear and it all went downhill from there.
I wasn't sure if it was someone trying to gain access, trying to distract me at that door while they broke into the back door, just being an ass, or wtf was going on.
My husband works 5 minutes up the road, so I called him and he came to verify it was "just" the doorbell and no intruders, as I wasn't comfortable going out to check it myself. Sighs.
One step forward, 15 or so back.
Hubby said it's happened before, as this was his childhood home and he remembers a few times, BUT, it hasn't happened since we moved here, so it was all new to me.
Looking forward to a day when little things like that don't feel so f'n giant to my nervous system.
