I grabbed PTSD by the horns and decided if I have to have it then fine. But I don't have to let it run my life if I can help it. I reached out to a friend. I countered my distorted thoughts. I did a search on the internet of different kinds of distorted thinking. I made a list of which ones I struggle with. Then I searched how to stop doing them. I called my therapist. I went for as brisk of a walk that I could with my injured back. I took my therapists advice. I made lists of my distorted thoughts. I got takeout food for dinner. I bought a dry erase board to write positive things to myself on. And I bought myself a magazine. And you know what? I might be struggling all over again tomorrow but I'm showing myself I'm worth the fight.
