What Does "love" Mean To You?

To me love is something that you not only feel, but it's something you want to express naturally. When I hug someone (not those casual hugs I mean the ones you hug your boyfriend/girlfriend with) it's not only a hug but a physical act where you give yourself to that person. Love to me also means that you're willing to do anything and everything in your power to make sure the one you love is safe. For example, you're walking down a street and someone attacks you and the one you love. You get stabbed, your loved one doesn't. I'd be more concerned about my loved one rather than my well being in that situation.

It's also being there for the other person no matter how much hell they put you through. In my case, I've lost two relationships due to losing control of myself, zoning out, hellish dreams, the unpredictability, and it was too much for them, but my friends were there for me through it all.

Love is also elusive. You don't really know who really loves you and when you think you have it, it disappears. You won't know who really loves you until you are in the darkest places and the worst of circumstances. If they love you they'll stick around. If not you get your heart ripped out because they never really understood what you were going through. You genuinely cared, but they apparently didn't or they couldn't take the hardship anymore.

Honestly love to me is the rarest and most valuable thing you can possibly have. If you have it then you are very lucky. If not then it feels like there is a void and you try and fill it as much as you can. And almost always it's with all the wrong things.
