Observing folks steadily pushing the toxic candies/other artificial food-like substances down their own and their kids' throats around every damn corner as a way to "treat", "comfort", and "nurture", as they steadily help each other continue to remain highly addicted and highly afflicted, just like the manufacturer's hope will keep happening, as they enjoy the comfort of their ongoing job security thanks to the continued high demand.
Then bitching later (and often frequently punishing/medicating/berating the kids) about the kids' behaviors, their moods, their own bodily discomforts, then continually crashing everyone's innards from the massive sugar rushes and toxic overloads, not to mention stunting some pretty significant brain and bodily growth during those younger years, as they appear to remain totally blown away and perplexed by it each and every time it happens, then wondering what in the world could be "wrong" with them. Sounds a whole lot like my youth.
The kids don't have a damn chance when the adults do the shopping and the role modeling. They only know what they've been taught and what they live each day. Most of the adults have never been taught any differently, either, hence the massive f*ckery that's allowed to continue to go down all around us as it does. Seasonal toxic dumps is what we've been reduced to, giving us a chance to ramp up our intake even more from our usual very generous daily toxic doses.
Not sure how that feels worthy of ongoing celebrations, to be honest, but to each their own. Our meat coated skeletons can only treat us as kindly as we treat them. Maybe it's a celebration to give thanks that we actually lived through the shit and yet another chance to tempt fate, if you want to call it "living", albeit with many existing in a miserable as f*ck condition more often than not. Reminds me of a song, "God damn the pusher man." Bah humbug to all the silly toxic shit that gets passed off as being edible and supposedly harmless, in "moderation". Our bodies certainly know better, hopefully our brains will soon catch up.
