I love the f'ers who are experts on whatever war... and never served a day... and wanna tell ME or whatever vet how it wasnt as bad as X war...

What makes me angry today.....

People who can't stand up for their own actions. This stretches as far as the eye can see ranging from polititions blaming other polititions, the military blaming someone else, and even kids blaming each other.

Why can't people stand up and be counted and accept the consequences for their own actions.

We have soldiers at the moment blaming PTSD on their drug use. They are blaming PTSD on their violent behaviour in public. Yeah it is a mitigating circumstance, but it is not the reason for them smashing a store window.

Yes, I became a borderline alchoholic and I became a drug addict and yes PTSD helped a bit as I was trying to escape, but it was not the sole reason.

I agree, as well, that we shouldn't blame our actions of PTSD per se. But there is a direct affect of trauma on the Amygdala. The amygdala is the area of the brain that controls emotions. There is a causal relation between even one traumatic event in our lives causing physical changes in that area of the brain. So what does that mean for us that have had long term and ongoing traumatic events and the aftermath of them. It means that our brains have been rewired and our reaction to things having to do with emotions is different. I think that those things are evident to us in our daily problems with PTSD. Just because we've been rewired still doesn't give us the right to act like jerks and at least we're trying to work it out. There are plenty of jerks around that haven't had our type of problems.

It's a catch 22 situation. There have been over 300 people caught locally with using illicit substances. They are blaming it on PTSD.

Yes, we think drugs will take away the pain and memories, but if they are still serving, then have not totally lost it.

Been playing phone tag with the VA for two days about my lab results. About to be finished with my first cycle of antibiotics. Still not feeling to hot. Then yesterday, my fuel pump started to show signs of going out. Can't wait to see what else goes wrong this month.

Hey Combat

The VA has an online application called; myhealthyvet. It's a good way to access your lab work. I get labs done on a regular basis and about a week after having them done they are updated to myhealthyvet account. You want to get the upgraded version so you'll have to go to your local VA, in person to apply. It, like all things, may take a little while to get up and running for you but once it does it's the best and easiest way to access your medical tests and info. It is by far the best online application that the VA supports.

If you go to their home page it should be in the right hand column in a list of things that you can sign up for. I can't believe I'm saying this; but I'd actually recommend it. Ouch, that did hurt just a little bit. :rolleyes:

CGF - heres the link, yu can view upcoming appts, I use that a lot cuz I forget everything.. see your labs and results, you can enter a lot of health info on you that can be accessed by your doctor quickly so they can get an overview of your previous health etc,,, oh and refill meds easily, just like going on Walgreens site....

Thanks guys. I completely forgot about that site. Finally got my results. All negative with is good but also bad in the sense I still don't know what's wrong with me lol. At least I'm HIV negative lol

that was a nervous moment for me.. when they did the test, yrs and yrs in health care AND being a sailor???? I was pretty good through the yrs but you never know lol
