What Makes You Angry Today?

So, I may have mentioned this in the past. I've had urinary issues since November. Been to my doctor twice, he assumed an STD the first visit, then assumed on the second that it was a UTI since my STD testing came back negative and medication I was on didn't work.

My 3rd and 4th visit I got more medication to treat a possible UTI and another STD that I've never heard of. On my forth visit, I lost it in the ER. A nurse was able to get me to calm down and put in a request for me to finally see urology. It's been three weeks, no medication has helped, and I haven't been contacted for an appointment.

I called today and they tell me urology reviewed my history and suggested another medication. But no one ever contacted me. The VA is such a shit show.

The VA is such a shit show.

It's a very sad thing, but true. An agency that's one single mission which is to care for vets fails so miserably.

It's no consolation but I too have had some issues with them of late. It's just never ending. It's all a pain in the ass. The only thing I can suggest is this; keep track of everything you do with them, calls with and what you talked about, and be a constant pain in the ass. Not so much in an aggressive way, that will get you arrested or cut off, but be absolutely like a bull dog. Never give up or let go. Call everyday if you have to. Get the names of the people that answer the phone and talk to them like a person, you'd be surprised how often it get you to the person you really need to talk to.

Probably like us all you wouldn't go to them if you didn't have to. Also, if you're not happy with a doctor or treatment get it changed, it's your right to do that. And of course I wish you the best of luck because a bit of that is helpful as well.

Hope you find out what's really wrong and get better.

Combat,

1. UTIs are nothing to fart around with. If they don't get off the dime, tell them you want to speak with the hospital administrator. If they don't do it, tell them, in writing, that you are going to the emergency room because they refuse to treat you in an expeditious manner and subject for grounds for a lawsuit.

2. Never, ever, ever get reactive around these people. They'll have the VA cops and then the DHS all over your ass. They are looking for any tiny thing these days to put us on Janet's list. If you have to, bite your damn lip until you can get out and punch a tree or something.

Things are getting shitty these days for combat Vets...apparently, we're still targets.

FFS, better recognition than Brothers who serve years for Queen and F*cking Country risking their lives in foreign lands for a cause that is not ours!

Brothers who when damaged get thrown by the way side and recieve F*ck all!

Officers getting an OBE for doing shit was bad enough but FFS, what the hell is happening to our once great country? At one time you had to actualy do something!

Sarg is right. Tree punching is a good release... Don't give the VA any excuse to give you the shaft. They WILL take action against all they perceive to be offenders.

One of my former soldiers assaulted some VA hospital staff -- he was an excellent soldier, and I served as a character witness at his assault & battery trial. My testimony didn't do much good -- he was sentenced three years in prison for his efforts plus denial of further healthcare benefits. If you are supremely pissed at the VA, please vent your frustration here but don't take physical (illegal) action.

Good advice guys. I wouldn't go as far as physically harming anyone. I did yell and vent my frustration on being ran in circles for months. I just got off the phone with a nurse, who advised me I can pick up new medication tomorrow to see if that helps and assured me that they're trying to get me an appointment with urology. We'll see if they work. All she seemed to be able to tell me is that I'm getting medication tomorrow to see if it helps. She threw some acronym at me but told me she didn't even know what it was...

Good attitude Fish, stay angry but above all STAY IN CONTROL!
If the VA continues to f*ck you around, see an attorney and get a letter crafted (that clearly states your problems) and send it "double registered" to your VA regional director. If you don't have the money for an attorney, talk to your local legal aid society. They will provide a lawyer at no cost to you. Make sure you send copies of this letter to your two US Senators and your US Congressman. This is the type of fighting that WILL get you the treatment to which you are entitled, plus it won't get you criminally charged and imprisoned. The bureaucrat-boobs at the VA won't like you for using these measures, but it will make them very sure that you will brook no abridgement of you legal rights as a US military veteran.

Note: Get a small spiral bound notepad and ram a pen down its binding. Take it (and the pen) with you each and every time you visit a VA facility. Take copious notes about your visits and note down names, positions, facility names and date / times. These notes can be used as evidence in litigation against the VA and for correspondence with senior VA officials / Senators / Congressmen. You need "incident particulars" to get any action... A simple utterance of "I am unhappy with VA service delivery" won't help. You must provide details of the incident(s) of sub-standard service delivery for the bureaucracy to take action.

Remember the VA is a huge bureaucracy just like the DoD. It only moves at its own institutional speed / direction until it gets a "nasty-gram" from a Senator and/or Congressman. I've been through this crap myself, but I am fortunate in that my kid sister is a lawyer who deals with government issues.

Good luck and don't give up!

The problem is bureaucracy. It's in everything and it's the reason that nothing seems to work right anymore. People don't do their jobs and then turn it on you that you haven't dotted every i and crossed every t. It's almost impossible not to lose it when you have to deal with this stuff.

Lately, I've been dealing with a number of huge agencies and they're, unfortunately, all the same. I do have to give credit to the few that really care and try to do a good job and are dependable. They are the .5%. The rest are just putting in their time on our collective dime.

I've spent most of my life working in construction, at all levels. One thing I always knew and liked about it was that you had to produce, everyday. If you didn't you were gone. It isn't a pressure thing, you just understood that the job had to get done, very simple. Perhaps it's an old fashioned ideal. It's completely opposite of the corporate, which is all the agencies, mindset. If someone doesn't do their job it can take a year to get rid of them. And you better have everything well documented or else they'll sue you. Let's see, you suck at your job and when you get booted for that you sue them. Man, that's sure f*cked up.

The sad fact for me anyway is that I just don't have the money to provide for my own health care and other needs. It's the reason that I've had to go back to the VA. I'll never really get used to the piss poor treatment as a vet, but I really feel bad for the younger vets that are just starting out with this system. I just don't have any encouraging words for them and wish there were.

Sorry if I was ranting and digressing a bit. I sure makes me angry. As a trigger the button's the size of my house.

Yeah Man.

I just had to say something too. If someone is going to hate something, know what it is. That person has no idea of what war is, what the military is or what the people who serve in it do. I've lived with this kind of thinking my whole adult life. It just never ends. Can I say ................................. no not going there.

What makes me angry today?
Trolls. f*cking Walter Mittys. Kids pretending to be something they are not.
Cuckoos in the nest meddling with real f*cking soldiers.
You know who you are, I have no f*cking idea who you really are yet, but the clock's ticking, twat.

P.S. To the many, many genuine people on this site, and those considering introducing themselves, no offence meant. We get the odd (very) troll/Walt/dickhead. My gripe is that it pisses off proper vets. We've got one now. Don't let it stop you all being part of this bloody good (if a bit eccentric) family. I'm doing pest control, is all.
