Inside job

Underneath this smile lies everything,
All my hopes and anger, pride and shame,
I make myself a pact not to shut doors on the past
Just for today I am free

I will not lose my faith
It's an inside job today

I know this one thing well…

I used to try and kill love. Was the highest sin
Breathing insecurity out and in

Searching hope, I'm shown the way to run straight
Pursuing the greater way for all human life.

How I choose to feel is how I am.
How I choose to feel is how I am.

I will not lose my faith
It's an inside job today

Holding on, the light of night
On my knees to rise and fix my broken soul
Again

Let me run into the rain
To be a human light again

Let me run into the rain
To shine a human light today

Life comes from within your heart and desire
Life comes from within my heart and desire
Life comes from within your heart and desireLink Removed

currently listening to captain lockeed and the star fighter, a bit of a hawkwind offshoot, a song about punching out when you hit the point of no return of a terminal decline towards the ground.

theres only one course of action left for me to take, i tried the switch selection, but my control wouldnt stay, i think for my protection i better make it straight, to ejection, i think its a case ,for ejection, fall into space, ejection , contact my face, ejection,

radar screens projection tells me im to late, to make a course correction, im about to meet my fate, theres no time for reflection, better make it straight to ejection, bust through the sky, ejection, the air rushing by, ejection, kiss me goodbye, ejection im too fast to die, ejection,

when the ship meets with destruction, the captain stays to drown, but no tin contraption is going to drag me down,my reference intersection tells me that im bound, for ejection, eight times my weight, ejection, got to escape, ejection, only one move to make, watch me go, time to blow,

I like Dido's "Hunter" as well as the Dixie Chick's somewhat-new song, "Not Ready to Make Nice."

When I am PTSDing, I do not listen to any music at all. I shun music. It doesn't speak to me, in fact it just irritates me because it is just more noise adding to the hurricane going on in my head.

When I'm feeling better, I want to listen to music. Often I will pick up on my desire to listen to music as being a clue that I'm feeling good, before I actually realize that I'm feeling good! :)

And I've tried forcing it, turning on music to try to lift my mood? Nuh-uh, doesn't work for squat. :\ Oh well!

Dramamine - by Modest Mouse

Traveling swallowing dramamine
Feeling spaced breathing out listerine
I'd said what I'd said that I'd tell ya
And that you'd killed the better part of me
If you could just milk it for everything
I've said what I'd said and you know what I mean
But I still cant focus on anything
We kiss on the mouth but still cough down our sleeves
Traveling swallowing dramamine
Look at your face like you're killed in a dream
And you think you've figured out everything
I think I know my geometry pretty damn well
You say what you need so you'll get more
If you could just milk it for everything
I've said what I said and you know what I mean
But I cant still focus on anything

I believe the sun should never set upon an argument
I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you I
believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
I believe that trust is more important than monogamy
I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
I believe that family is worth more than money or gold I
believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair
I believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness
I believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed
I believe that God does not endorse TV evangelists
I believe in love surviving death into eternity

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

Ooh Child - Nina Simone

A lot of the time I avoid music because it affects me so much.
I guess I should put together a compilation to make me feel good!

Zel.

So many great artists already mentioned here but here's a couple more.
Peter Gabriel, play Moribund The Burgermeister loud through headphones and it's like running floss from one ear and out the other. Great for clearing the head.

Kate Bush, almost anything by Kate Bush is good for me as her voice just seems to scratch a happy bone I appear to have down my spine. Still my most played cd even after all these years. I trust those who like Tori Amos have heard of Kate.

So of course "Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush is high up there for me.

But the song that affects me the most is the theme to Jerry Maguire ( it had me at hello )
