Jimi Hendrix, Red House, possibly my favorite piece of music to be played at feel it in your gut volume. I have speakers capable of handling almost 400 watts, a tad more if I had the amps to make more. The guitar lines will make it sound like my speakers are distorting but when he sings it is bell clear and I just figure he played it at that level and we got what we got! He was a master of misusing perfectly good fender equipment in ways that were too cool to forget.
I live out in the sticks, but I bet my neighbors can hear it if they are awake and outside. I don't care if they were, they can wonder why I was listening to music that loud this morning, hell, maybe they think I was playing that loud, I am sure my reputation out here would allow that I could and would. I can't and I don't. My biggest amp puts out 40 with lots of ugly distortion. Not like Jimi's, his sounds great!
