What To Never Say To A Ptsd Sufferer

I know! I also hate it when people people use the word rape as an adjective to describe how well they accomplished something. (Example: The other team got raped). So unnecessary!

I have similar feelings to the phrase "I killed it", or "I could murder...". Really, you killed it? Literally? Really, you could murder? Oh, go away, with your silly and somewhat unnescessary phrases.

I am getting pretty good at switching my mind to thinking about other things when the words get to me. It's that child rhyme, you know the one, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me", I just substitute the names part with words I find upsetting now. Silly words. It's like what sailorgal said a while ago, "you gotta turn your focus towards yourself... you decide whether it cripples you or not", that sentiment is sticking with me. I will try not to/won't be crippled by other people using language or saying stupid things.

Not read the whole thread, only the first few and last few pages, so sorry if these have already been added, but:

"How can you just forget?"

"If you'd had your arm blown off I might believe you" [had been hurt in a war]

Those two to hub.

And to me, "How can you just oversleep"
