My thought during or after a panic attack or day spent ruminating and solving to feel safe: What is the point of doing all of this work if I end up still having nights of just throwing up and sheer terror?

What do I do next?

I know this sounds like the dumbest question, but I am SO confused. I have read and read and read everything about CBT/ACT/PE and I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Do I challenge the thought? I read Anthony's account of how to get well and I loved it.

For those of you who are further along in your healing journey, If you ever had this hopeless thought, what would you do/say back to it?

Anything you can, and when you can't, you do nothing and you don't get angry and take it out on yourself (which is depression and all bad feelings) that you can't fix it.

Nothing works when u r really depressed so what not to say perhaps is better?

Don't say "I'll never feel better," you will.

Hey MamaHopeful,

If you ever had this hopeless thought, what would you do/say back to it?

What Mach123 says!

You can't see the big picture from in here, so don't try. Keep your head down, keep it simple. Just look at what's in front of you. -Q. Tarantino

If the Mind is stuck in a Iron Block, and there „seems“ to be no escape, I do the washing my head with icy cold water, or anything with the Body.. running, or jumping, music. Just to get a minute of Brain absence.
