Usually major changes to definitions will cause people to get removed from the equation.
I was looking over the classification guide for the DSM-5 (which apparently the US vet association uses to define PTSD?). Most of it looks normal, but the two things I saw that really stood out, and is the "lynch pin" of the definition.
1. Criterion G: Functional Significance

• This is the part where the shrink gets to decide how much impact PTSD has on your life. Depending on how you display symptoms and how well you have explained yourself, this could make or break the case. The question you have to ask yourself for this one is, "How significant does functional impairment need to really be?". There is no answer

2. Criterion H: Exclusion

• This is the part where they tell you that because you may have had anxiety or other problems before the military, that you are not eligible to be categorized under the definition of PTSD. What you need to ask yourself here is, "Do I share truthful information about my past? If I do, it could destroy my case. If I don't, it will impede the healing, and make everything more drawn out."

Those are just my thoughts on all of that, and reading over the DSM-5

I'm not against this even though it makes me very nervous. I have seen POGs talking, comparing notes and research, trying to get diagnosis prior to being separated for poor performance. Changing the criteria may weed out these individuals. Just hope it doesn't hurt those that are truly hurt.
