I pay $1600 a month. I pay up front and then three times a year I get partial reimbursement from my in...

$1600/mo.---->:wideeyed::wideeyed::wideeyed::wideeyed:....GULP!

That is BRUTAL!

May I ask how many sessions you receive for $1600??

@void it is brutal. That is four hours a week regardless of how I use them. Mostly I do two 2hr sessions. one hour was just enough to destabilize me before I went home. I'm not the best at grounding. I will go to three hours a week in June.

This year will be better. I only have to pay a $5,000 deductible and then insurance will reimburse me $80 of the $100 per hour he is charging me. It's just that they only do reimbursements so many times a year and so I have to pay it all out in advance and then wait for a check. It is hard on the cash flow.

My son just started therapy. He is going one hour a week at $120 so that will be another $480 to the budget. I'm going to have to work a few more hours a week to pay for it.

As OP, I think this thread continues to have value and retains its relevancy. I, therefore, bump it...begging the indulgence of the Mods.

The poignant fact, as this thread illustrates, is that some of us are receiving the help we need and others are not. Some are financially burdened by the cost of T, and others are not.

Speaking personally, I badly need T. and I simply can't manage it......and so I drift aimlessly. I know I am not the only one. I try to keep working based on previous T, but without prof. guidance it is difficult.

May each of you have your needs met.:hug:

The state insurance makes very low payments and my therapists have all taken it for the last five years. (Medicare basically) The last two got paid maybe a third of what they would normally charge. This one I have now, who has helped me so much, went through all the paperwork and phone calls to get in the state network just so she could see me. None of the other therapists in her office take my insurance.

I'm "lucky" enough to qualify for free counseling via the local domestic and sexual abuse shelter. Qualifying has nothing to do with finances, only experiences. Otherwise, I'd not be partaking based on financial reasons. They also offer a weekly support group at no cost.

I have insurance through my job... at least as long as I HAVE a job. There's a copay that because of all my other health related expenses my therapist is waiving (he's seeing me twice a week)
Regardless I've seen what it WOULD cost 160 a pop before the copay. that's nothing to sneeze at. It's an HMO.. I to an HMO because I have kids and I'm accident prone. Probably wouldn't be financially viable otherwise.

If I cared enough about it I could probably figure out a way. To be blunt I'm fighting a losing battle caring about living. Once I might could sort that BS out, then it'll be time to get creative, again
As an update, have shaken out the sheets and found a little bit of creativity hidden in the wrinkles. ;) ProBono once a month at this point. Still working on stabilization rather than trauma therapy.
