General Why do so many with combat PTSD have issues around the holidays?

It's getting more difficult for J as the month moves along.

Picked a stupid argument with me so he could leave and get drunk with his brother. Whatever!!

He's moody and isn't getting much sleep.

Constant nightmares.

He doesn't have any good memories of the holidays from when he was serving.

He was always deployed.

He witnessed horrible losses on every deployment.

He's grieving his brothers!!!!!

Aaaand he has some drama going on with his daughter.

Every year it's hard.

He participates when he can. ❤

I just came to the conclusion the holidays are always going to be difficult for J. But that doesn't have to ruin mine. (again) Time to enjoy my holidays.

??⛄❄??✝?

My vet got up in the night and he was pretty drunken. *sigh*

He has actually added to his stash of Sherry, because there was an Black Friday offer. Let me explain: it is a lot cheaper in Europe than it is in the US... so I am not worried for money.
I just think we shouldn’t have a stash of Sherry in our house.

We most likely will be going to a Christmasmarket in the coming week (which Vet fears).

This is how I roll too. Yesterday he was home on his usual work night for whatever reason. I was REALLY looking forward to playing Christmas music/movies and having a quiet night with my dog. I really needed to decompress from my stressful week (that I didn't get to lean on him during) and the extra 'tude he's had around the house. But the guy didn't go to work! He watched violent boy movies LOUDLY and drove me crazy all night. Made dinner for himself without offering me any or asking if we needed anything from store. It was like I wasn't even home. I was SO HAPPY when he went to work tonight. As soon as the door closed...before I even heard his car turn on...Alexa was playing Christmas music for me. Tonight has been AWESOME! Christmas spirit all around! I even put my dog's christmas bow tie on. Lol

I'm with you. As much as he says he is "fine" I'm noticing the same crud behavior creeping around. Very salty and angry. I think I'm starting to realize this will always just be this way especially at the holidays. Blah!

Kiddos were all stoked waiting for him to show up to decorate, but I'm glad we didnt wait because he showed up late and flopped himself on the couch saying how he doesnt like the holiday and Christmas lights are annoying (party pooper, whatever). Yet a day later eager to shop for the kids for gifts (whipflash).

I'm not going to let it ruin our Christmas Spirit. My house threw up Christmas and loving it!

I think they want us to have an fun time when they are cranky/withdrawn/depressed. At least my Vet told me. Better one cranky and depressed person in the house than six (in our case it would be six).

My vets mood actually got much better over the day yesterday. He then went and bought stuff for a stollen recipe and we are gonna make some kind of special Stollen today.
We are also going to go on an online-shopping-trip today.

Hi...
how is everybody doing? Hope you are all well. Us? Actually we have been having a good time since last wrote, made some deco, vet and kids made Stollen and vet and me went online shopping for presents. Great you can do those things online nowadays... and today we had an argument about a silly little thing. Still sad.
